La mayoría pagaremos casi lo mismo o menos de lo que pagamos hoy en día. En vez de pagar cuotas mensuales/anuales a un seguro médico privado, la mayoría de gastaremos más o menos la misma cantidad en impuestos. Por ejemplo, si pagamos 8,000 dólares en cuotas por una familia de cuatro con un costo de 4,000 en deducibles, nuestra responsabilidad sería de pagar 12,000 del águila. ¿Por que la gente se viene a Estados Unidos de América?
“Durante una visita al país de Guatemala el mes pasado atestiguamos lo característico de Centro América; O sea pobreza extrema, escases de profesores, escases de programas de salud, hambruna, que la gente está hasta los huesos; amenazas descaradas de muerte; violencia alarmante sin freno; víctimas del crimen organizado; casas de un cuarto sin piso donde viven 8 personas; robo de tierras por las grandes corporaciones; corrupción atrevida del gobierno; esclavitud de empleos por ser mal pagados y largas horas; represión; y trauma penosa como resultado de la guerra civil. Los derechos humanos básicos tienen un alto precio para los pobres, por eso son empujados a emigrar para simplemente sobrevivir.

Lord, we are your people, the sheep of your flock. Heal the sheep who are wounded, touch the sheep who are in pain, clean the sheep who are soiled, warm the lambs who are cold. Help us to know the Father’s love through Jesus the Shepherd and through the Spirit. Help us to lift up that love, and show it all over this land.Help us to build love on justice and justice on love. A number used to mark the point at which a person “becomes”
an adult. Most of us realize that even if a person reaches the magic “beginning of adulthood,” it’s still possible to not act like it. Culture shows us this through language. The word “Adult” has transformed from a noun: “that young lady is such an adult,” to a verb: “my gas tank is low so I need to adult and fill it up.” The latter statement really emphasizes the point that an adult is a person who makes responsible choices. Sure, each adult needs to make decisions that allow him or her to survive, but in order for society to thrive, those decisions need to have a positive impact on the culture. And culture is at its healthiest when the dignity of human life is respected.

18 es un simplemente un número
Al cumplir 18 años de edad marca el inicio nuestra “vida como adulto”. Nos damos cuenta que aunque una persona llegue a los 18, se supone que es el principio de su vida como adulto”, pero es posible aun no portarse como tal. Nuestra cultura nos lo demuestra a través de las
expresiones normales de la palabra, adulto. La palabra “adulto” es una conjugación de un sustantivo: La joven se porta como un verdadero adulto. “Verbo; “Mi tanque de gasolina necesita ser adulterado para poder llenarlo.” Por lo regular el verbo adulterar es lo opuesto de comportamiento de un adulto. Podemos decir que la palabra adulto se refiere a una persona responsable de sus actos. Seguramente, cada persona quien actúa como adulto piensa en de sobrevivir, pero para que nuestra sociedad tenga éxito en sus objetivos, tales decisiones deben de influenciar a nuestra cultura. La cultura está en su máximo ascenso cuando respetamos la dignidad de la vida. (DEL MANUAL DEL SER ADULTO)

Señor, somos tu pueblo, las ovejas de tu rebaño sana a tus ovejas heridas, toca a las que sufren dolor, limpia las que están manchadas, calienta a las que sufren frio,
Ayúdanos a descubrir tu Amor de Padre a través de Cristo y su Espíritu. Auxílianos a venerar ese amor y compartirlo con todos en esta tierra. Auxílianos a construir el Amor a través de la jus-ticia y justicia a través del amor. Ayúdanos a creer con todo nuestro ser, esperar con alegría y amar divinamente. GOD MADE ME DO IT (Remember our priests)
All is in God and God is in all. This is the context for my thoughts about four of my Columban brothers who are celebrating 50 years of priesthood - Frs Noel Connolly, Colin McLean, Dominic Nolan and Kelvin Barrett. My story about them starts with the understanding that God called each of them to be Columban priests and missionaries. It sounds presumptuous to claim that “God made me do it” but that is actually what we believe.
Fifty years ago these four men laid face down on the floor as the people prayed that they would be blessed by God and made priests.
It makes us wonder – “Why does God need priests?” The answer is “We need priests to remind us that we are in God and God is in us.” Priests, by what they do and what they say, are in our midst to remind us that we are Jesus people. If priests do not make real to us the God that is in our lives then they have fallen down on the job.
Frs Noel and Kelvin were sent to Korea after ordination and Frs Dom and Colin went to the Philippines. These formative experiences have made them the men they are today. There were difficulties, of course. Learning a language and engaging with people of another culture are not easily done. Why did they do it? Because they were and are characters in God’s story. Just as Jesus revealed God’s love for people of his time so God continues to use these missionaries today to show his love for the people. The result of the mission of these four young Columbans may be hard to name but one thing is for sure: they all developed a great understanding and love of the people. I think this was God’s reason for choosing them in the first place.
Frs Noel, Kelvin, and Dom came back to Australia. Fr Colin chose to go off to Brazil. With them they all took the message of love and concern for people not their own. God had achieved his objective. God’s mission is a mission of love for his sons and daughters and he would love to see the whole family united in love. That is the dream of God for the world.
These four young missionaries do not look so young any more. Loss of hair and loss of hearing; loss of sight and loss
of mobility. These losses need to be grieved properly and in that
space our God resurrects and transforms us. God is always the creator. God is the source of all life. So while we reflect on the past we also can look forward to an unknown but wonderful future for Frs Noel, Dom, Colin and Kelvin because
God is in all and all is in God.
“Dios me llamo a Hacerlo” (Recuerde a nuestros sacerdotes)
Todo está en Dios y Dios está en todo. Esto representa lo que en mi contexto presento a través de mis pensamientos de cuatro de mis hermanos sacerdotes quienes cumplen “sus bodas de oro sacerdotal”. Padres, Noel Conolly, Colin McLean, Dominic Nola y Kelvin Barret. Mi relato empieza con el entendimiento de cuál fue el motivo que respondieron al llamado a ser hermanos Columbanos sacerdotes y misioneros. Parece que presumimos al clamar que Dios nos forzó a hacerlo, pero en realidad de esto tenemos plena convicción. Hace medio siglo, estos cuatro santos varones se postraron ante el altar mientras la comunidad oraba para que fueran consagrados a Dios como sacerdotes.
Nos hace pensar ¿por que Dios necesita sacerdotes? La respuesta es sencilla; “Necesitamos sacerdotes para recordarnos que estamos en Dios y Él en nosotros. Los sacerdotes, por lo que hacen y dicen están entre nosotros para recordarnos que somos el pueblo de Cristo. En caso que los sacerdotes no lo revelan así, fallan en su misión sacerdotal.
Los Padres Noel y Kelvin fueron a Corea después de su ordenación, por otro lado, los padres Dom y Colin fueron a las Filipinas. Estas experiencias los ha hecho ser a lo que son el día de hoy. No se salvaron de las dificultades, por supuesto. El hecho que necesitaban aprender a hablar la lengua del país, adaptarse a la cultura y comunicarse con los habitantes no fue facil. ¿Pero porque lo decidieron? Porque son interlocutores en la historia de Dios. Justamente porque Jesús reveló el amor del Padre a su pueblo de su tiempo, así Dios continua usando a estos misioneros de hoy para continuar revelado su amor por su pueblo. El resultado de la misión de estos cuatro misioneros Columbinos puede ser difícil compartir, pero les aseguro una cosa que han desarrollado un gran entendimiento y amor por la gente. Creo firmemente que por eso Dios los escogió en la primera estancia. Los Padres Noel, Kelvin y Dom regresaron de Australia. Padres Colin decidió irse a Brasil. Lo único que han llevado estos cuatro de equipaje ha sido el mensaje de amor e importancia por el pueblo.
Dios ha logrado su cometido. Dios quiere amar a sus hijos., quiere verlos unidos en el amor familiar. Dios tiene la viva esperanza que así sea. Estos jóvenes misioneros no parecen ser tan jóvenes como antes. Pues se les ha caído el pelo, ya no oyen claramente, necesitan lentes para ver, y ya no son tan agiles como entonces. Estas pérdidas necesitan ser tomadas con cierta tristeza, pero con la alegría de la resurrección que los ha transformado. Dios siempre es el Creador. Dios es la fuente de toda la vida. Y mientras reflexionamos en el pasado, miramos hacia el futuro, a lo desconocido pero el futuro maravilloso para nuestros sacerdotes: Noel, Dom, Colin y Kelvin porque Dios está en todos y todos estamos en Dios. THE HOLY ROSARY
Month of October is Known as Month of
Rosary. The rosary is one of the most cherished
prayers of our Catholic Church. Archbishop
Fulton Sheen said, “The rosary is the book of
the blind, where souls see and there enact the
greatest drama of love the world has ever
known; it is the book of the simple, which initiates them into
mysteries and knowledge more satisfying than the education of
other men; it is the book of the aged, whose eyes close upon the
shadow of this world, and open on the substance of the next. The
power of the rosary is beyond description.”
The structure of the rosary gradually evolved between
the 12th and 15th centuries. Eventually 50 Hail Marys (or more)
were recited and were linked with verses of psalms or other
phrases evoking “the joys of Mary,” i.e. scenes in the lives of
Jesus and Mary. In 1409 Dominic of Prussia, a Carthusian
monk, popularized the practice setting 50 phrases about the lives
of Jesus and Mary with 50 Hail Marys. During this time, this
prayer form became known as the rosarium (“rose garden”),
actually a common term used to designate a collection of similar
material, such as an anthology of stories on the same subject or
theme. Eventually, “the sorrows of Mary” and “the heavenly
joys” were distinguished, bringing the number of Hail Marys to
150. Eventually, the 150 Hail Marys were joined to the 150 Our
Fathers, a Hail Mary following each Our Father.
EL SANTO ROSARIO
El mes de octubre se conoce como el mes del rosario. El rosario es una de las oraciones más apreciadas de nuestra Iglesia católica. El arzobispo Fulton Sheen dijo: “El rosario es el libro de los ciegos, donde las almas ven y representan el mayor drama de amor que el mundo haya conocido; es el libro de lo simple, que los inicia en misterios y conocimientos más satisfactorios que la educación de otros hombres; Es el libro de los ancianos, cuyos ojos se cierran sobre la sombra de este mundo y se abren sobre la sustancia del próximo. El poder del rosario está más allá de toda descripción ”.
La estructura del rosario evolucionó gradualmente entre los siglos XII y XV. Finalmente, se recitaron 50 Ave marías (o más) y se vincularon con versos de salmos u otras frases que evocaban "las gracias de María", es decir, escenas en las vidas de Jesús y María.
