For the benefit of those who are hard of hearing, a hearing loop system has been installed as part of a full

sound system at St Peter’s Church, Framilode and St. Mary’s Church, Frampton

The Severnside Benefice has become part of a larger Team of 15 parishes known as The Stroudwater Team. This will be led by a Team Rector who will head the team of

two other Vicars, one of whom we expect will live at the Frampton Vicarage. Advertising for the post of Team Rector will begin in February.

Please tell us your views on the qualities you would like to see in our new Team

Rector.

There will be 'Post Its' in all five churches for you to use

News from the Local Ministry Team

The churches in the five parishes that make up the Severnside Benefice

have been busy fund raising and leading worship in the last two

months. We miss our retired clergy but are continuing to work hard

together to keep church services going and fund raising for both upkeep

of the building, outreach amongst the community and for those less

fortunate than ourselves.

Framilode held a very successful popup Italian restaurant evening. The

inside of the church was covered in Italian posters, the food was

delicious and very Italian and the guests came dressed for the occasion.

Tickets were like gold dust. Bishop Rachael and her husband joined us

which was especially exciting and gave us a chance to get to know her

a little in an informal setting.

The Christmas tree festival in Frampton was a delight. Yet again local

groups and individuals decorated the most imaginative trees from trees

made of patchwork, knitted and covered in healthy vegetables. The

nicest part of all is when the trees are being decorated and the

community comes together chatting and helping each other out.

In Fretherne the crib scenes were beautifully presented in an exhibition

which featured many from South America, each crib reflecting features

from the country in which they were made.

The Christmas Craft Fair was once again held in the Wool barn and what

better way to enter the Christmas Advent period than to share a mince pie

and mulled wine with a friend.

In so many different ways the community comes together during the

period of Advent. The four Sunday services in Advent lead you from

the foretelling of Jesus ministry through John the Baptist, on to the

birth of the baby Jesus, the Son of God. Somehow visiting the

Christmas fund raising events and the church services seem to shake

off that ‘What’s it all about’ flat feeling that can accompany the

Christmas period.

The Diocese of Gloucester and the members of the 15 churches who

will be making up the new Stroudwater Team are meeting to put

together an advertisement for the new team of clergy. It is hoped that

the first appointment will be in place by June or July.

Our prayers are with you all The Local Ministry team
