Huge dams and penstocks in narrow Alpine valleys and the Rocky

Mountains, pipelines over steep mountain ranges, in deserts or

running through rain forests, bridges over rivers and marshlands,

cableways and mountain stations in places you can only reach by

air – these are all images that generate amazement and raise the

question: how is it possible to build there?

THE ROPE PROVIDED THE SOLUTION.

For over 25 years, LCS has been driven by complex transportation challenges

and a fascination for unconventional construction sites. This has led us to

develop new, innovative solutions constantly.

We design and construct secure ropeways to make the impossible possible:

bring heavy loads to locations which are difficult to reach – without impacting

the environment. That way, we make it possible for our customers to erect and

operate construction sites at locations nobody could have imagined.

AN AUSTRIAN COMPANY WITH TRADITION.

LCS was founded by Christoph Ludescher in 1989 in Vorarlberg, which

remains the company seat to this day.

The origins lay in the timber industry and transportation of timber across diffi-

cult terrain using mobile ropeways. The activities of LCS quickly became more

diverse – from the mid-1990s, with experience, motivation and innovative

drive, LCS was able to erect material cableways to transport heavy loads for

pipeline and dam construction as well as mountain construction sites among

others. Today, LCS is part of the LCS Holding, a group of companies special-

ized in innovative solutions and machinery for challenging material handling

in critical situations.

OVERCOMING CRITICAL TERRAINWITH HEAVY LOADS.

Construction projects and building sites in demanding terrain are often faced

with the challenge of transporting loads weighing several tons to a desired

location; a challenge which is almost impossible to meet.

However, huge loads can be transported with extreme precision and with the

greatest possible safety in the air using cable cranes, thereby overcoming a

wide range of terrain-specific problems.

THE DIVISION FOR PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION –A CORE COMPETENCE OF LCS.

Many of the international projects we have completed are related to the

construction of pipelines. In steep and demanding terrain, the large machin-

ery which is normally used would soon reach its limits. Cable cranes provide

the possibility to choose direct routes, thereby saving costs. The use of heavy

machinery in critical terrain can be avoided and thus a higher level of safety

achieved.

EXPERTS FOR PIPELINE CONSTRUCTIONIN STEEP AREAS.

Our LCS pipeline division is specialized in the complete construction of pipe-

lines for critical and steep sections of the route. For these so-called “special

points” we provide a comprehensive service: logistics, blasting operations,

trench excavation with special machinery, pipe laying, welding, backfilling and

re-naturalization.

Through the expertise in pipeline construction which LCS has acquired, the

cable crane systems have been continually adapted, specialized and devel-

oped to meet exceptional challenges. They are distinguished by their great

versatility which can be fully exploited for pipeline construction. Separately

controlled lifting systems make it possible to lay pipes, position accurately and

weld them together without additional special equipment, as well as backfill

with covering material.

involved at the construction site with top priority and therefore focus on the

the highest standards (CE standards and O.I.T.A.F. guidelines) and are also

assessed in our test centres. As a result, LCS is able to guarantee safe and

LCSENVIRONMENT

ENVIRONMENTALLY COMPATIBLE, SUSTAINABLEAND ECONOMICAL.

While simultaneously providing the greatest efficiency, cable cranes manage

to impact the environment as little as possible. Extensive and above all cost-in-

tensive road construction with negative environmental impact can be avoided

by using a material ropeway.

LCS systems are ideal for critical areas that are subject to strict environmen-

tal regulations but have to be crossed or in which construction has to take

place. In general a material ropeway only requires a route of 6 – 8 m along the

pipeline; it is installed directly above the planned route of the pipeline, which

facilitates easy laying of the pipes.

CONSCIOUS ACTION.

Sustainability is an important concern for LCS. We design and construct our

systems to be as environmentally friendly as possible without trading in ef-

ficiency, by utilizing machinery with state-of-the-art diesel engines with the

lowest possible emissions and electric powertrains.

Las grúas de cable son ideales para zonas críticas con grandes restricciones

truirse. En la construcción de oleoductos, una grúa de cable estándar puede

correr generalmente por un ancho de traza de 6–8 m a lo largo del oleoducto
