The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the IQAC
of Shri Shivaji College of Education, Faculty of Physical
Education, Amravati for the Year 2009-2010
The AQAR of Shri Shivaji College of Education (Faculty of
Physical Education) Amravati (Maharashtra) is submitted; in accordance with
the guidelines for the creation of IQAC in accredited institutions. The cell
constituted unanimously in its staff council meeting by the faculty of the college,
consists of the following members.

The above mentioned members of the IQAC were nominated
unanimously by the staff members of the college. The meetings of the cell are
convened time to time under the Chairmanship of Hon. Principal of the college
for having discussions of the enhancement of academic quality as well as other
related issues and the resolutions taken are worked out.

Year of Report (2009-2010)
Part -A
The plan of action was chalked by the IQAC of this institution in
the staff council meeting for the session 2009-2010. The same is given as under:-
1) Academics :- It was unanimously discussed and resolved that the
academic issues should be given more importance in the institution. Teachers
participation in national, international conferences, seminars, workshops,
registration for Ph.D., computer training, attending research methodology
workshops etc. should be encouraged.
Moreover students should also be encouraged to conduct seminars
on different issues related to their study at least once a week. It was also
discussed that research cell should be strengthened by subscribing more research
literature. More books should be added to the Book Bank with the help of
teachers and old students.
Development of Infrastructure, Learning Resources & Upgradation of
Technology :-
In case of infrastructure, Girls Hostel construction; track
modification, cubicals for lecturers, construction of auditorium and arrangement
of sprinklers in the ground should be made during the session 2009-2010. Water
cooler should also be made available in the faculty of physical education.
New computers, books for library, notice boards, writing boards,
C.Ds of eminent persons lectures should be purchased. In case of physical
education faculty new C.Ds analyzing movements of sportsmen should be

purchased from N.S.N.I.S., Patiala. New journals of sports should be added to
the library. Educational technology should also be upgraded to the possible
extent keeping in view the budgetary provisions of the institution.
Perspective Plan of Student Support and Progression :-
Considering the students as a very important factor for the
institution, the authority will try their level best to help the needy and poor
students in getting education by helping monetrically and academically.
Sportsman will be provided chances to participate in short competitions at
different level and also to felicitate the meritorious students on 5th Sept. 2009.
They will also be given traveling concession.
Students will be provided facility of counseling by their teachers in
the field of education and physical education. Educational tours for students will
also be arranged. Lectures of eminent scholars will be arranged for the
development of students as well as faculty knowledge.
Cultural programmes, visit to different educational places will be
arranged. Students will be provided newspapers, employment news etc. in the
hostel and college library. Important days and anniversaries will be celebrated
jointly by the staff as well as students to provide organization experiences to the
students. Special swimming coaching classes will be organized for students and
outsiders. Aerobic centre will be started for women participants.
The Authorities of the Institution has tried their level best to
comply with the above resolutions taken and the head wise compliance report is
given in section B of this report.

Part – B
1) Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution:-
The Goals and Objectives of the college are as follows:-
Goals :-
� To impart qualitative and valuable service in the field of teacher
education to the pupil teachers and to provide well trained and responsible
teachers to the society in the field of education and physical education.
� To provide healthy environment for the all round development of pupil
teachers personality.
� To work as a strong intellectual component in the field of teacher
education.
Objectives :-
� To create a self-reliant center of excellence for turning out teachers in
education and physical education.
� To inculcate discipline in terms of regularity, sincerity and punctuality
among the trainees.
� To develop civic sense among the trainees.
� To inculcate values among the trainees.
� To obtain community and social development through infrastructural
facilities of the institution.
� To provide facilities in research work to research scholars in the field of
education.
� To develop school - institution - community networking.
� To create sportive atmosphere among the college and society through the
faculty of physical education.

� To provide healthy environment for the society.
� To encourage local youths in development of their personality through
sports culture of the institution.
� To realize the dream of Late Dr. Panjabrao Alias Bhausaheb Deshmukh
of creating socially useful, mentally alert and physically sound youths for
the society.
� To develop esthetic view among the pupil teachers through college
healthy practices.
� To strive to produce ideal teachers who can contribute their mite to
Nation building.
� To render services in the field of teacher educators rather than the
economic gain to the institution.
� To strive for upgrading professional knowledge base of pupil teachers.
� To examine alternative ways and develop innovative techniques for
curricular development, its transaction and evaluation.
� To maintain and promote a culture of inquiry in classrooms and
institution.
These objectives have been amply fulfilled by the various activities
organized and carried out throughout the year in the institution.
2) New academic programmes initiated (U.G. and P.G.) :-
No new academic U.G. / P.G. Programme was introduced during
the session 2008 – 2009.

3) Innovation in curricular design and transaction :-
The college is affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University,
Amravati. Curriculum design is the sole right of Board of Studies in Education
and Physical Education of the University. Hence the college is bound to follow
the curriculum designed and approved by the University authorities. College has
adopted the newly constructed syllabus by the university for B.Ed. during the
session 2009-2010. For other courses it is as before. B.Ed. Staff members
attended Curriculum Design Programme by the University.
4) Inter disciplinary programmes started:-
The college has not started any interdisciplinary courses.
5) Examination reforms implemented :-
The college is bound to follow the examination system of Sant
Gadge Baba Amravati University to which it is affiliated. College neither can
deny the University norms nor can modify them. But again the college has its
own internal ways of improving the students quality through examination system
adopted for the same viz. unannounced test; unit test, weekly test, assignments,
End Semester examination (Twice in a session). Moreover marks obtained are
arranged in serial order of merit and displayed on the Notice Board for the
information of Students.
This year B.Ed. staff members participated in preparing Question
Bank at the Amravati University Centre.
6) Candidates Qualified:- NET/SET/GATE/PAT
No student has passed the same during 2009-2010.
PAT :- Ph.D. Aptitude Test conducted by S.G.B. Amravati University/ Pune University.

7) Initiative towards Faculty development programme :-
The college has initiated research programme for the faculty as
well as scholars registered for Ph.D. research under the University approved
research supervisor faculties of the college. They are also sent for attending
refresher courses, seminars, conferences, workshops and clinic etc. Faculty is
motivated to present their papers in different Conferences and Seminars etc.
The research as well as scientific papers of the faculty as well as
research scholar working with the institution are sent through the research cell
for publication in reputed peer Journals of State, National and International level
and the record of the same is maintained for the perusal of other scholars, after
publication of the Journals.
The college has increased the numbers of Journal, Thesis,
Research abstracts belonging to Education, Physical Education and Yoga
disciplines for the references purpose of the research scholars.
Moreover faculty members are entrusted with the assignments of
conducting different programmes in the institution to develop leadership quality
among them.
The related work is cited as below in the Table:-

23) Courses in which student assessment of teachers by the students
is introduced and the action taken on students feedback:-
Assessment of Teachers by the students is done for last many
years. It is introduced in the faculty of Education, Physical Education and Yoga
for this purpose opinionnaires were filled in from the students in personal
without leaking their identity. According to the assessment by the students,
teachers are asked to their behaviour.

As per the analysis of opinionnaires, the following responses were
received from both the faculties:

The college campus and its infrastructural facilities :-
1) Geographical environment and the atmosphere of the college :- 90% of
the students liked the geographical environment of the college and 88%
of students rated the pollution free college atmosphere. They appreciated
the college environment and atmosphere as very healthy and preferable
for the study purpose.
2) Administration and Behaviour of the Principal :- Near by all the
students of both faculties appreciated Principal behaviour and praised her
administration ability. They admitted that due to her good administration
quality all the facilities are available to the students.
3) Teaching Staff :- 95% of the students opined that their teachers are well
qualified and are masters of their subjects and they are very much co-
operative by nature. They also imparted valuable guidance to the students
for their upcoming future.
4) Office Staff :- 76% of the students opined that office staff is
co-operative and easily available to them.
5) Library Facilities :- Students showed their full satisfaction towards the
availability of education and physical education department libraries.
Most of students appreciated both the librarians behaviour and their co-
operative nature.
6) Computer Facility :- Near by all the students opined that they are getting
full co-operation regarding to computer facilities being provided to them,
by the college through its computer centre. Students are given a separate
fix time as per schedule to learn computer, moreover computer center is
always open for students.

7) Laboratory Facilities :- Majority of students opined their satisfaction
toward psychological lab, information and technology lab, test and
measurement lab and science lab etc. They also added that these labs are
upgraded time to time by the college and they got chance to known with
modern technology.
8) Research Facility :- College has conducted well furnished research cell
in the college campus. Which help the Ph.D. scholars as well as other
scholars working for research degree. Facilities such as research journals,
books, abstracts, thesis, dissertation etc. are available to the scholars for
their research purpose. These facilities were highly appreciated by the
scholars. They also praise the programme conducted by the research cell
authorities to motivate the researcher in the field of Education and
Physical Education especially the activity organized by Ph.D. Scholar
Alumni Association of the college.
9) Sports and Co-curricular Activities :- Near about 100% students of both
the faculties viz. (Education and Physical Education) appreciated to
college efforts in the field of Sports and Co-curricular activities.
Intramural competition that held every Saturday or Weekend in
Sports activity and gathering function of B.Ed. students were mainly
highlighted in students opinion.
10) Students Support :- Student support include felicitation of out standing
sportsman and meritorious students. Hostel fees in installment, and
availability of research journals, abstracts without any fees. All these
facilities are given in form of students support and student opined were
very good about it.

11) Hostel Facilities :- Almost all the students residing in the hostel (Boys
and Girls) appreciated the facilities such as boarding, lodging, water, light
etc. Students gave almost priority to stay in hostel.
12) The college had upgraded the Badminton Hall, Gymnastics Hall,
Health Center, Judo Club with new equipment and 87% students
showed their satisfaction towards the related teaching staff, coaches and
facilities provided to them for their participation in concerned activity.
13) Common Rooms for Girls :- Common room facility was much
appreciated by almost all the girl students. They opined it safe and
comfortable for them.
14) Intercom and Camera Facility :- Other than the faculty members, near
by all the students appreciated the intercom and camera facility in college
campus. The opined it as an important means to maintain discipline in
college and create a sense of vigilance among staff and students.
15) Yoga Center :- Above 86% of the students opined satisfactory to the
facilities provided in Yoga Center. They found yoga center as a
motivating factor to maintain their health and fitness. Other than
students the staff of both the faculties also appreciated the working of
centre.
16) Over All Rating of College :- Almost all the students from both the
faculties viz. (Education and Physical Education) rated the college as one
of the best Teacher Training Institution in Maharashtra. Students who
belongs to different state of country (H.P., M.P., J & K, U.P., Bihar, W.B,
U.K., etc.) opined that this is a excellent motivation having all the

facilities, imparted best quality training in the field of Education and
Physical Education.
17) Feed back of a students regarding teachers :- The practice of
evaluation of teacher by students was introduced by Dr. N. A. Wankhade,
Principal of the institution to trace out the loop holes in the functioning
and teaching sector of the institution. The main objective was to suggest
remedies to fulfill the short coming and make the functioning efficient
and smooth and enhanced the quality of teaching.

25) Computerization of Administration, process of admission,
examination results and issue of certificates:-
The college has already computerized the administrative offices of
both the faculties. Admission, examination and issue of certificates to the
students (computerized certificate) are managed with the help of computer only.
Moreover total accounts are maintained with the help of computer.

26) Increase in the infrastructural facilities:-
One more Hall for Yoga practices has been constructed and 50 benches,
50 desks worth the cost of Rs. 1,20,000/- were purchased.
27) Technology Upgradation:-
College has purchased more 05 computers for the faculty of
Physical Education. Rest of the faculties are having all most all facilities related
to the technology. This year VPN Broad Brand facility is provided to the
students.
28) Computer and internet access and training to teachers and
students:-
Clerical staff of the institution were made to learn computer
techniques from the computer experts in the institution itself. Moreover 125
students took part in 6 months DTP Tally course run by the institution.
29) Financial aid to students:-
College authorities help the students in getting scholarships from
their states agencies granting scholarships every year. During the year 2009-
2010 students got scholarship facilities as under :-

1) Members of Association resolved that the college should give more
emphasis to the placement services of students by discussing the issue

students without charging any fees from them.
31) Activities and support from the parent-teacher association:-
Parents-Teacher meeting was conducted in the institution at the
time of students gathering. Parents showed their satisfaction regarding the
behaviour of teachers and preparation of their wards in the institution.
32) Health Services:-
College authorities take of all health care of students, teachers and
other staff of the institution. Regular medical checkup of students and staff is

done every year. Not only this but needy students are financially helped during
their medical treatment. Dr. Kalpande, Medical Officer of the institution takes
regular care of health services. Regular bleaching of water resources is done to
avoid waterborne diseases.

34) Incentives to outstanding sports persons:-
During the session 2009-2010 college provided the following
incentives to the sportsmen and women for their outstanding performance in
games and sports :-
1) Incentive marks as per the provision of S.G.B. Amravati University were
given to the students.
2) Sportsmen and women were felicitated by the honourable principal of the
college on 26th Jan. 2010. They were given certificates, mementoes and
track suits. College cricket team remain university winner for the
second time.
3) Hostel committee also felicitated the outstanding sportsmen and women
on Sept. 5th, 2009.
4) Photographs of sportsmen were published in the college magazine.

36) Activities of the guidance and counseling unit:-
The college consists of education, physical education and yoga
education faculties where the teachers for secondary education are turned out in
their related fields. Majority of students join their services as teacher and very
few numbers of students says 2 to 3% continue their higher studies. In case of
higher study has to appear in entrance tests. The guidance and counseling unit of
the college guide such students in preparation of the same. More over they are
also guided for interview preparation and about different avenues of jobs after
qualifying the B.P.E., B.P.Ed., B.Ed. and D.Y.Ed. Examinations.

College conduct three months Yoga Certificate Course also for the
personality development of the students and for creating health awareness
among them.
The Counseling of the institution prepared data base relation to the
profession in the respective field which help as guideline for the students in
getting jobs.

The college has initiated the programmes for the development of

Administrative staff of the institution was deputed to attend two
days workshop organized by Shri Shivaji Education Society on Dated 18th & 19th
July 2009 related to administration and accounts maintenance.
More over clerical staff is asked to attend the computer center for
solving related problems.

4) Health Club:- Well equipped Health Club is provided by College to the
students as well as to the Public of the neighborhood at very low charges.
The club is run in two shifts i.e. Morning and Evening.

5) Felicitation of Ph.D. Research Scholars :- The felicitation
programme was taken on 17th April 2010 by Alumni Association of Ph.D.
Scholars.
6) Environmental awareness:- College conducted environment
awareness programme in the institution in the month of August 2009.
New plants were planted around and within the campus.
7) Intramural Competition:- College conducted the intramural
competition of different games and sports were in every Saturday. In
which students were given the opportunity to organize and administer
the games and sports. Main aim was to prepare them as good officials.
8) Yoga Centre Activities :- College yoga center is conducting three
months certificate course in yoga with main aim of developing student
personality and creating health awareness among them. It is much
admired by the peoples for its health advantage. It is also playing its part
to motivating people for health practices activities.

9) Badminton, Judo and Gymnastic Clubs:- These clubs are rendering
their services to localite along with students of the college. College is
helping the person from neighboring area in their personality
development. In year 2009-10 total 55 persons in Badminton, 70 students
in Gymnastics and 22 in Judo took advantage of these facilities of the
institution. These clubs are preparing the students for better sports career.
10) Track and ground facilities:- Track facilities are made available to
the people for morning and evening walk. Large number of youth and
old persons daily come to the institution. Ground facilities viz. Kabaddi,
Cricket, Basketball are also available to students as well as local public
during the leisure of the institution i.e. after practical hours.

11) Social Service :- Students of the college clean the college campus in
every Saturday. Sports skill classes are also taken by the students in the
schools of the local area. Students and staff members of the institution
help the people in tree plantation, cleanliness of streets and smoothly
organizing the social festivals.
12) Hostel Facilities :- Hostel facilities are made available to the college
students by the institution. Students from both faculties viz. Education
and Physical Education are taking benefits of these facilities. A total
number of 75 students are residing in hostel in which 25 girls students are
residing in girls hostel and 50 boys students are residing in boys hostel.
Various. Facilities such as 24 hour water, light, bedding etc. are provided
in the hostel and their working is checked at regular intervals. For the
purpose of recreation one recreation hall is made available equipped with
T.V. facilities. Out door facilities of Badminton ground are also provided
to the students.

The out come :-
Most of the activities planned for the session 2009-2010 have been
accomplished by the institution. Some of the remaining activities are being
completed very soon. Most of the teachers expectance of education faculty have
completed their Ph.D. In case of teachers of physical education faculty two
teachers have submitted their thesis for evaluation and rest of them are preparing
for the same. College has a lot of infrastructure and other facilities.
Dignitaries impressions about the Institution:-
During the session 2009-10 so many dignitaries visited the
institution viz. President of the Society, Adv. Arunbhau Shelke; Dr. Anil
Somwanshi (Dean of Education Faculty), Dr. Dilipraoji Ingole (Vice President
of the Society), Shri Surendra Bhuyar (Ex-Minister of Maharashtra State), Dr.
S.P. Tankhiwale, Dr. K.M. Kulkarni (Ex-Director, Higher Education) and
Professors of many universities.
After their visits to different department of the institution viz.
Education, Physical Education and Yoga they showed their utmost satisfaction
towards the functioning of the institution and progress made. Along with that
they also appreciated the administration of the Hon. Principal Dr. N.A.
Wankhade.

Plan of the institution for the session 2010-2011.
The authorities of the institution has planned as under :-
Infrastructure :-
1] The construction of Girls Hostel is under progress and will be completed
by the mid of this session.
2] The proposal for constructing indoor stadium for Basketball and other
games is under process.
3] Meeting hall, Cubicals for staff will be constructed during the session
2010-2011.
4] Computer lab will be equipped with modern facilities.
5] Standard track will be constructed.
Academic Excellence :-
1] For the academic excellence of the institution Post of teachers and clerical
staff lying vacant will be filled in.
2] Teachers will be provided more facilities to attend conferences/seminars/
workshops and other career advancement schemes.
3] More number of books and journals will be subscribed in the libraries.
4] College propose to conduct International Conference during the month of
Dec. 2010 in the institution.
5] Experts in the field of education and physical education will be invited to
share their knowledge with the faculty.
6] Students will be motivated for participation in debates and sports
competition etc.
7] Feedback related to teachers evaluation by students will be continued.

Extension Activities :-
It is the policy of the institution to provide maximum help to the
society by way of conducting different programmes viz. tournaments of different
departments, cultural programmes, programmes of different dignitaries, blood
donation camps, health awareness programmes and so on.
Ultimate Goal :-
Ultimate goal of the institution is to produce well trained, research
minded and socially useful teachers for the service of the Nation.
It will be the prime effort of the institution to work for the
betterment and upliftment of the downtraders of the society as desired by the
founder President Dr. Panjabrao Alias Bhausaheb Deshmukh.
