SocietyShri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati was established in 1932 by the "Shikshan

Maharshi" Late Dr. Punjabrao Alias Bhausaheb Desmukh who was then Cabinet Minister forAgriculture in the Ministry of Late Honourable Jawaharlal Nehru. He was great misionary whostarted the Educational Institutions for the upliftment of the aspiring students from rural areas.He renedered most valuable services in the field of education for the Masses of Vidarbha andMaharashtra. The Society runs (administers) about 248 educational institutions includingMedical, Engineering, Agriculture and colleges of other disciplines.

Our present president is Honorable Adv. Arunbhau Shelke. He is having vastadministrative experience. Head office of the society is located at Shivaji Nagar, Amravati.

Our college : A GlanceShri Shivaji College (Arts & Commerce) Amravati is the oldest Private college located on

the Morshi Road, Amravati.In order to provide and promote higher education to the aspiring students coming from

all walks of life. the founder president of Shri Shivaji Education Society Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukhestablished Shri Shivaji mahavidyalaya in the year 1946. Primarily Arts Faculty was started.

In 1947 the faculty of Commerce and the faculty of Law were opened. From 1956 thecollege started Post Graduate Course for the Commerece Faculty. In 1957 the Faculty of Scienceand in 1959 the Faculty of Science and in 1959 the Faculty of Agriculture were started and in1968-1969 these two Faculties were seperated into two Independent Colleges. Subsequently in1972-73 PG Classes in Economics were started. PG Classes for M.A. Political Science & MAEnglish were started in 1980-81. To encourage the reserach activity in pursuit of excellence in thefield of higher education the M. Phil courses in Economics & Commerece Faculty were started in1981-82.

In the year 2001-02 the Mass Communication i.e. BMC Crouse was started. In the year2003-04 MMC course was started. In the year 2007-08 PG in Geography & Home-Economic werestarted alongwith that Music as a optional subject for BA was also started in the some academicsession. In 2008-09, B.com Part-I (English Medium) course was started. Our college is makingprogress as per the Demand of the Present Higher Educational Policies. College has completedtwo cycles of NAAC accredidation.

Important Instructions for Students

1) Application forms will be available with the prospectus. Application formmust be filled in by the student in his own handwriting.

2) If application form is accepted student will have to pay required amount offees in the college.

3) Admission fee is non refundable. After seeking Admission if any studentswants to cancel the admission, the paid fees will not be returned on anycondition.

4) Student who wishses to change his faculty will have to fill up fresh form andshould pay the required fees.

5) Student will have to give recent passport size phto for Identity Card.6) Cut off Criteria for admission will be followed.7) Students enjoying concessions must fill up special forms within time limit.8) Students should carefully keep the receipts of admission with them.9) At the time of admission the applicant must produce original T.C. (Transfer

certificate) of the institute last attended.10) Students of any other university should submit Migration Certificate on or

before 15th September, signed by the Registrar of the University from whichshe or he is migrated and will also pay the migration fees.

11) Students not already enrolled in Amravati University will have to pay theUniversity Enrollment Fee at the time of admission.

12) Students having grievances should seek help from principal and officesuperintendent.

13) Students seeking provisional admission should inform the office and regularizetheir admissions.

14) Students should follow rules of college regarding sport fees.15) Those whose parents annual income is less than Rs. 15000/- are declared as

Economically Backward. Their fees are reimbursed by the state Government.However the students have to apply in the prescribed form (to be obtainedfrom the college) together with the income certificate signed by Revenue officer(not below the rank of Tahshildar) and an attested true copy of the marksheetof the qualifying examination immediately after she/he is admitted to thecollege E.B.C. concessions shall be finally decided at the end of the session onthe basis of regular attendance and Caste Verficiation (For B.C. Students).Backward Class students are required to get their Caste Certificate Certifiedby the Competent authority.

16) Without Prior intimation if the student is basent, he/she will have to pay fineof Rs. Minimum 75% attendance is compulsory.

Important Information

1) Students Co-operative Store : Students co-operative store is opened to availbooks and stationary for the students in cheaper rates. Students after seeking admissionmust pay Rs. 02 as share, Rs.11 as subscription fee and Rs. 13 as entry fee. Procurethe seperate receipt for it.2) Every student must participate in group insurance scheme and will have to pay thepremium.3) There is facility for vehicle stand (cycle stand). Annual charge is Rs. 100 and studentsmust keep their cycles in the Cycle stands only.4) N.C.C.

Students applying for N.C.C. are required to bring forms from the N.C.C.commanding officer through the principal before 15th of June. The Parade attendanceshould be 75%. In the same way the student is required to attend 10 day campcompulsory. The information about the facilities thourhg N.C.C. can be collected fromthe College N.L.L. officer Information regarding N.C.C. will be displayed on the NoticeBoard.5) N.S.S.

Students willing to join N.S.S. will get admission by filling the application form.They will get application forms from the N.S.S. officer before 15th July. The admissionswill also be confirmed by the N.S.S. Officer.

Students seeking admissions in N.S.S. will have to compulsorily attend allprogrammes conducted through N.S.S. There is facility of incentive marks for theN.S.S. student. N.S.S. is plat form for the students to show their talent.6) Games & Sports :

Our college encourages the students to play various sports like criket, Football,Kabbaddi, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Badminton, Basketball, handball etc. Our students havebrought laurels in various games with flying colours and won shields and awards.7) Extra-Curricular Activities :

The college is always promoting and giving opportunities to the students to showtheir hidden talent. We have literary societies of English, Hindi & Marathi. We havestudy circles of various subjects. Through University's students Welfare Department various programmes areorganised by this Career and Counselling cell. This cell arranges various lectures oncareer and counselling of the students.11) Hostel Facility :

There is Seperate Hostel Facility for Boys & Girls. In each Hostel there is facilityof Table, Chair's, Bed, Cold & Hot Water and other required facilities. Capacity ofAdmission to Girls Hostel is 120 and Boys is 60.12) Discipline : Every Student should follow the Rules and Regulations passed by thecollege. Student's should behave in discipline on the college campus.13) Library : College Library is very rich. Each year New books are added in theLibrary. Students are distributed books regularly by following rules. There are 75,800books in the library. Rules of How to get the Books ? Can be seen in the library. Inreading room are available Magzine, Newspapers in English, Marathi and Hindi. Booksare also available through varios schemes. Reading Room is well established. Thereis Intecent facility for the exams like MPSC, UPSC etc. Through N-List there are 01lakhs E-books & 5000 E-Jounal available in the library.
