◦Change your A/C filter every

1-3 months. This will keep

your electric bill down and it

will prevent A/C malfunctions.

◦ Set your thermostat to a

comfortable temperature and

set it on Auto instead of turn-

ing it off and on. The A/C unit

does not have to work as hard

when you do this and you’ll

have lower electric bills as a

result.

◦ Is your smoke detector beep-

ing? This means the battery is

running low and needs chang-

ing. A standard 9 volt battery

will do the trick!

◦Mold=BAD. Please notify us immediately if you notice any leaks, moisture buildup, or mold and we will be happy to

take care of it! ◦Don’t lean anything, including boxes, against the A/C unit inside your patio closet. Not doing so may result in a broken

A/C, leaks, and mold. ◦Need to put in a service re-quest? Please be sure to re-mind us if you have a pet when you do. We cannot enter your apartment if your pet is not in a kennel or placed in the bath-

room. ◦Want to lower your electric bill even more? Install compact

fluorescent bulbs throughout your apartment. The environ-

ment will thank you, too! ◦Have an after hours mainte-nance emergency? Call 912.330.0586 and press 1 to

speak to an operator,

24/7!

Directions Heat 1 tablespoon of the reserved bacon fat in a small sauté pan over low heat. Add the onions and cook until translucent. Cool the onions for a bit.

Mix the bacon, onion, egg, mayonnaise, mustard, sugar, and lemon zest in a bowl. Add the salmon and potato, mixing gently after each addition. Form the mixture into 12 small patties. In a shallow dish, combine the bread crumbs, Parmesan, and pepper, to taste. Coat the patties in the bread crumb topping. Heat 1/4 cup of the oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat, and cook the salmon cakes in batches until golden, about 3 to 4 minutes per side. Add more oil, as necessary. Arrange on a serving platter and serve. *Recipe courtesy of Melissa d’Arabian, winner of The Next Food Network Star. Her new show, Ten Dollar Dinners with Melissa d’Arabian, airs on Sunday’s at 12:30pm on Channel 49.

Laser tag, a bowling alley, an arcade, and a batting cage! Sorry folks, no movie theater-that was all rumor. There is, however, a new grocery store center being built on Pooler Park-way to look forward to. Be on the lookout for a new K-8 school at Benton & Jimmy Deloach, too.
