SAINT ANNE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH BRISTOL, VIRGINIA October 1, 2017 Remember St. Anne’s in your Will and Trusts
On this Respect Life Sunday, what better words could we
hear than St. Paul in today’s 2nd reading? “Humbly regard
others as more important than yourselves, each looking
out not for his or her own interests, but also for those of
others.” Let us pray for the wisdom to make these words
the hallmark of our lives, respecting all other lives.
Readings for this Week (Oct. 2-7)
Monday: Exodus 23:20-23; Mt. 18:1-5, 10
Tuesday: Zechariah 8:20-23; Luke 9:51-56
Wednesday: Galatians 6:14-18; Mt. 11:25-30
Thursday: Nehemiah 8:1-4a, 5-6, 7b-12; Lk. 10:1-12
Friday: Baruch 1:15-22; Luke 10:13-16
Saturday: Acts 1:12-14; Luke 10:17-24
Scripture Readings for next Sunday (27th/Ordinary)
Isaiah 5:1-7
The Lord seeks a harvest of justice.
Philippians 4:6-9
Dwell in thoughts of purity and justice and you
will know peace.
Matthew 21:33-43
“The stone that the builders rejected has become
the cornerstone.”
Next Sunday we hear the parable about the landowner who
plants a vineyard… note the last verse in which Jesus
declares that the kingdom of God “will be given to a people
that will produce its fruit.” The task of building up the
kingdom was given to us at our baptism. Let us resolve to
produce its fruit in our lives that bring about peace,
harmony, and justice. If not, the kingdom will be given to
others who will.
