Dear Parents,

LENTEN PRAYERS

During Lent, our Liturgical Leaders will be sharing special prayers with you and our St. Anne’s community. This week our Leaders have chosen the following prayers: “Lord, I offer you this lent with all the generosity I have. I give you each hour, each decision and each challenge. Help me always choose the path of love. Whether it be

in compassion or in challenge, may I learn to do the most loving thing. May I ease the pain and injustice of the world and help to build your Kingdom.”

“God, I almost forgot in the midst of all the excitement to speak to you. Life is going really well at the moment, family, friends, relationships, school and life generally all seem to be where I would want them. I cannot keep the smile from my face. Thank you for all you give me.”

FATHER HUDSON’S CARE GOOD SHEPHERD APPEAL

Father Hudson’s Care is the social care agency of the Archdiocese of Birmingham which is a very worthy charity. Once again we are asking for your support as part of our Lenten fund raising activities.

Each child has received an information letter along with a self-assembly collecting box; please encourage him/her to put a small amount each day in the box. Kindly arrange to return The Good Shepherd Collection boxes to school by Friday 27th March 2020. Your contributions are greatly appreciated. Thank you to those who have already returned their boxes.

ST. ANNE’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS!

St. Anne’s Catholic Primary School will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in April 2020. As part of our celebrations we are working on putting a collage of photographs together showing ‘St. Anne’s through the years’ and we really need your help please. If you have any photographs that could be part of the collage would you please arrange for us to have a copy, either electronically by sending them to the school office via email: [email protected] (please put ’50 Years’ in the subject line of the email so we can easily

recognise emails relating to the 50th Anniversary) or if you have hard copies by sending them into school, ensuring that your name is on the back. Also if you have friends, family or neighbours who have had links with St. Anne’s through the years, please ask them too! We really want this to show as many of the wonderful pupils, families and events that St. Anne’s has celebrated over the last. 50 years.

Please arrange for any contributions to be sent in by Monday 16th March 2020 and many thanks in advance for your support with this important project.

ONLINE SAFETY TIP OF THE WEEK

AUTISM AWARENESS COFFEE MORNING

There will be an Autism Awareness Coffee Morning on Thursday 2nd April at 9am in the Saints building.

INSET DAY

The next INSET Day is on Monday 1st June 2020, immediately after the Whitsun week holiday (25th-29th May). Children will not be in school on this day and will return after half-term on Tuesday 2nd June. Thank you.

PARKING

We have recently had reports of a number of issues involving some of our parents and family members outside of school in both the Colebrook Community Centre and Bosworth Community Centre Car Parks. The spaces outside of the school gates DO NOT belong to St. Anne’s - they belong to both centres.

Parents and family members that continually choose to park in these spaces, double park or park in front of the gates or entrances to these sites are causing problems for visitors to the centre. Unfortunately, we have also received reports of unacceptable language being used towards staff who work in both centres when asked to refrain from parking in their car parks. We kindly request and encourage ALL parents, carers and family members to park in the St. Anne’s Parish car park or at ASDA when bringing and collecting children from school.

NURSE DROP-IN

There will be a School Nurse drop-in session Tuesday 24th March at 8.30am; the focus will be ‘A Healthy Lifestyle’. Parents/Carers are welcome to come along and see the nurse – she will be based in the Waiting Room in the Reception area. Thank you.

SATS – YEAR 6 As you are aware, children in Year 6 will sit their SATs tests from Monday 11th May until Friday 15th May 2020. May we remind you that it is imperative that children attend school every day that week to access the tests and need to be in school every day as we are going through lots of preparation with the children. All year 6 children must also attend Booster Club on Mondays after school.

Explore together: the best way to find out what your child is doing online is to ask them to tell you about it. Put the family computer/device in a communal area so you can see what sites they’re visiting and share with them.
