Rockstar Events and Book PromotionsAmazon decisions, promotional preparation steps and ensuring long term sales

Prepared by Robert Bridge for Sunny Rain Publishing 2011. In this introductory document to will find a very loose plan of what can be done so far from what I have understood about promoting a book through social media combined with my own understanding of ensuring long term security set out through marketing procedures. Step one each of us and more people with an Amazon account need to start writing constructive reviews on Amazon, about products that are popular there and relevant books that will look relevant in the series of the book at the time needed to be promoted. Action join Amazon, or login to Amazon and write reviews of everyone you know and likes products, do a search in the box and review relevant products some of these you may have bought, others you might know someone who has, failing this you can Google the product to find out what other people are saying about that product. Question: Do I join Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk? Hmm good question here's the thing if you get in the top ten in the UK this will be easier than getting to the top ten globally. That said global sales of any book is good. As you know Amazon takes a commission from any sales and lots of people use Amazon regularly to promote products, they are called Affiliates and they earn commissions from promoting things on Amazon, if you create a buzz somewhere for them then, when the book comes to launch if you go to the top products these affiliates will promote because they will see that the book is worth promoting. The question is then perhaps which site is more responsive for affiliates, .com or .co.uk Other key point is how responsive are the two and what are the legal and tax differences between each. I can say from a little experience Amazon.com are easier to contact and they call you on the phone immediately, the contact details are easily found where as co.uk is not so easy and not so responsive with contacting and giving support. However Amazon.co.uk is easier to dominate in becoming top ten bookseller. Things like this can help to get books stocked in Best selling bookshops. Having friends in high places of publishing companies helps but will not however guarantee sales of books. If however you press and PR campaign is good you have the mass media generate this buzz for you, and I am sure they will give you the best guidance and advice in order to make this successful.

Call to action questions: Do you know anyone who has already been through a successful process and can you follow what they did to be successful? Join as many places where you can generate a tribe of people who a like reading books and b are actively writing reviews and reading books, you will also learn from these communities very quickly what is needed to be done in order to get the buzz going. E.g. on Good Book Reads.com people make lists of books, and share lists with other people, this generally means more people will either review or bookmark names of books. When you join here if you have a following on Facebook via the API login system you will be shown your friends who are actively be there, these are the people you want to alert about your activities there and you can message then via Facebook with your incentives, and offers or if family future schemes to get ahead. Do not be afraid to tell them what you want them to do. A little goes a long way, sometimes all it takes is one fan in social media to generate a monthly response. If you have a weekly audio show, or a weekly live broadcast on video station this can help. IE this could be UStream, Justin.Tv, Stikam.Tv or LiveStream, audio broadcasts cost money often you can syndicate through RSS but finding web 2.0 places that are free is very difficult. This might be an investment you want to make. Blog Talk Radio is one, if there is one more local to the UK and is a cheaper option this might be something worth exploring. The reason for this is each of us united can then keep in communication about reviews so you want to create a couple of decent book marks, on is called Reddit. If we all join Reddit we can use this powerful bookmarking device to bookmark these reviews, but more importantly when it comes to the launch we can bookmark the positive reviews on Amazon we each do to get the ball rolling. When there are a few reviews on a book when released, we can put the word out via Facebook pages, friends and family to do the same thing. Sometimes a good way to do this is offer an incentive. Here is just one suggestion for the incentive: Buy the book on this link today send me the purchase receipt and I will give you a free gift. This free gift is probably best to be an event. This means you have an event where people can come down free of charge and attend, perhaps a live book launch event with you performing, with other people performing. This means hiring out a venue, or perhaps you already have a venue, this will be a real busy evening if you get this right. It will also help a book go up immediately in the book ratings of Amazon, just depends on how many people are ready to make reviews and purchases of the book. Therefore announce this at events what you will be doing, ask them to go-to either website or Facebook page to find out the details. OK I call this 'The Rude Mechanicals' Promotional Model

I met these guys here in Tottenham where they were playing live here in Tottenham at the chances bar. They have done a great job of staying in contact with me through social media and free web 2.0 tools and are always updating there model of communications. The model they use is a three step process that originates with Myspace but is also used through the Facebook Fan page, how they login through the API I do not know what I do know is you can login via either Myspace or Facebook, so if you have not already be sure to create a Myspace page just in case, if you need help with this I can suggest a few things let me know and I will provide you with a set up document. For music uploads to create promotional widget of musical recordings on website you can join with Facebook login save time, you have a choice of creating a Artist account to host music this is the first option or you can create a venue to promote your nights that you do, or you can create a special event account, I would recommend the first option. http://www.reverbnation.com/main/signup Remember this site is for musicians and broadcasting events, at the entertaining evening announcing the book, its launch and your call to action to dedicated friends and contacts can be informed about what you plan to do and how you want them to make your book go popular over night. The second place to market is getting some direct response, you can add an auto-responder and pay a monthly subscription, or you can try the Rude Mechanicals model by joining to deliver newsletter, I will have to ask them directly what they have achieved with this free device. An email that comes highly recommended is IContact another one is Constant Contact ( they come with a 60 free trail then start of $15 per month) , because you can import a list of e-mails to this auto-responder. If you want the best auto-responder which can cost lots of money but does come highly recommended by other people is Aweber. The good thing about all these suggestions is you will be able to build a list of over 500 people very quickly, and be able to transfer subscribers to different sections of your list, i.e. either fans, take people of sales process if they have already purchase your product but more importantly track and measure your open rate responses from each e-mail you send. http://MessageBot.com/ Another one I have just found which took me a bit to find out about is from Microsoft, so you send messages from your email. The website could be configured to have comments that are replied to immediately with this one time payment Email Responder.

http://www.4team.biz/purchase_emailresponder.asp OK so lets get ready. To many options let me know. Not sure what all this means again let me know. See you in a bit. Here is the video I made earlier this year, it explains the free Google Docs version and looks at other high end autoresponders. The latest feature has changed in the past month because many of them now have neat tools to spread the word on Social Media 2.0 free sites like Facebook. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxPL5K8rPrE
