ible policing members of the South AfricanPolice Service (SAPS) pulled off a Ford Couri-er Bakkie.“The occupants of the vehicle fled on foot,”

said police spokesperson Warrant OfficerBasil Seekoei.Upon further investigation, he said, the

members found 14 merino sheep under coveron the bakkie, nine of which were still alive.According to W/O Seekoei, the legs of the

sheep were tied up with wire. He added thata tattoo mark was visible but very vague.

“Some of the sheep have yellow plastic tagsandgreenplastic tags in their ears,” saidW/OSeekoei, adding that one of the sheep had agreen and metal (possible stud tag) in thesame ear.He said police were looking for any farmer

that could possibly identify the sheep to con-tact the Commander of the Uitenhage StockTheft Unit, Capt. Gary Du Randt.

. In an unrelated case the Despatch Detec-tives are calling for community assistance inthe investigation of a house robbery.

This follows after three suspects, armedwith a firearm, allegedly kicked a back dooropen of a house in Khayamnandi Despatch inthe early hours of Sunday morning and de-manded the “Stokvel” money.According to W/O Seekoei, the suspects al-

legedly tiedup theirvictims in theirbedroom, took anundisclosed amount of cash and somepersonal belongingsand fled the scene ina sil-ver Toyota Corolla.Anyone with information can contact the

A GROUP of 45 established entrepreneursfrom the Nelson Mandela Bay, who are en-rolled in The Hope Factory’s business devel-opment programme, have graduated. They have completed a 17-week course

which focuses on financial management andpersonal and business development.Starting and running a financially viable

and sustainable business in SouthAfrica canbe quite a daunting task as, on average, onlyone in five businesses succeeds. This is large-ly due to a lack of business knowledge, train-ing or experience.Entrepreneurs need support and through

The Hope Factory’s business mentorshipprogramme, these 45 individuals have expe-rienced just that.Peter Gossman, a Business and Finance fa-

cilitator, says this comprehensive courseequips the students with skills that are vital

to their businesses. “Many of our entrepre-neurs who have gone through our pro-grammehave said that TheHope Factory hassaved their business and helped them to be-come profitable and sustainable,” he says. When Rene Sauls, owner of Picnic Basket,

joined TheHope Factory she had no businessexperience. With the help of her businessmentor, AnthonyMatroos, they began apply-ing the basics principles of businessmanage-ment, building basic business blocks to en-sure the business became profitable.“In the first few months the business

showed a loss, but has slowly started tomakea profit after we implemented a businessstrategywith a heavy focus on profitability,”says Matroos.Lungisa Lutshaba, owner of Lungisu-

preme Beverages, says, “I have learned thatunderstanding the business is key to its suc-

cess.“Passion and enthusiasm alone will not

safeguard a brand in this highly competitiveenvironment.“The Hope Factory helpedme to better un-

derstand my client’s problems by buildinggood relationships and by doing risk analy-sis. I can now make calculated decisionswhile shaping and reviving my business.”Another happy graduate is Simphiwe Nt-

lantsana, the owner of Ntlantsana Account-ants and Auditors. He says, “This is an awesome programme

as it helped me to understand the many as-pects of running a successful and sustaina-ble business.“We as entrepreneurs need to take full ad-

vantage of the programmes available as theyindeed give hope to our business men andwomen.” – INDABA REPORTER

Uzanenkosi, the darling ofhis parents who are both em-ployees of the Nelson MandelaBay Municipality, is a playfulchild who does not cry unlesshe is hungry, according to hismother Pricilla, who is an ac-countant at the metro.

Pricilla saidUzanenkosi feedson breastmilk and he loves it tobits. Although Pricilla wasthinking of introducingUzanenkosi slowly to other ba-by foods, shewas, however, hap-py that he enjoys breast-milk.

“Uzanenkosi is a happy childwho is always playful. The only

time he cries is when he is hun-gry. I breast feed him and afterthat he is happy again. He lovesmommy’s breastmilk,” a proudPricilla said.

She teasingly added thatthough Uzanenkosi recognisesand plays with his father Xolis-ile, an Asset Auditor at the mu-nicipality, she thinks thatUzanenkosi loves her more.

“I think he loves me moreprobably because of the food Igive him,” she chuckled.

Pricilla admitted, however, that the little boy, who is his fa-ther’s lookalike, loves sittingon his father’s lap and watch-ing football on television withhim.

“Uzanenkosi notices thingsin the house and he loves toysespecially Sophie The Giraffe. That’s his favourite,” said Pri-cilla.

CHILDREN fromSibanye Pre-school inNU29Motherwell enjoyed a Christmas Party onFriday December 4.

“We had a good year since we started thisinstitution on February 3 this year.We decid-ed to close the year on a high note,” saidfounder and principal Nombulelo Mdana.

The children, members of staff and invitedguests, that included Reverend Befile, had agood time.

“They all had a lovely experience. OnMon-day we cut the cake and had joy written on

all the little ones’ faces, Mdana told PE Ex-press Indaba.

According toMdana, because of the pover-ty that’s ravaging many families in Mother-well, especially in her area, some of the tod-dlers she taught were not going to get sucha Christmas treat at home.

“I usually do Christmas parties for thechildren in this community. This year, since we started the creche, we felt it mustbe an opportunity for our children to cle-brate with us. And, they loved it,” she saidadding that the parents of the childrenthanked her and her school committee forthe good gesture.

children and simultaneously encouragingthem not to be scared to report crime to thepolice,” said Station Commander, ColonelZolani Xawuka.

“We went to the streets so as to assurechildren that our presence should makethem feel safe and secured,” said Col Xawu-ka.

According toColXawuka, SAPSmembers
