To share a faith adventure you need to have a faith adventure. Have you ever stepped out and done something daring for God? Have you ever trusted him completely? Have you known his help and support in time of need? Have you faced life’s big questions and found how the Catholic faith supplies the answers? Have you had your heart broken before God and cried out to him in need and known his presence with you? If your faith is one of dull routine, then seek the Lord while he may be found. The Lord is near to all who call on him. Prayer is the way to get in touch with God in a deeper way, and stepping out in trust is the way we learn to depend on God’s goodness. If our lives are no different than anyone else's in our society, then we really have nothing to share. If our Christian life is not of a different dimension and a different perspective, then we have nothing to share. On the other hand, even a little step towards God, just a tiny experience of his presence and power is enough to share with others. Once I was about to take part in a healing Mass. I had doubts and fears. I worried that when we anointed the person nothing would happen. The older priest I was with said, “Don’t worry. Something always happens!…We just can’t predict what it is.” His small but steady faith encouraged me and we went forward and the person was touched by God through our obedience and faith. Sharing that faith with others makes it real in their lives. The faith is not just a theory or a theological idea. It is not just a list of rules and regulations to be observed in order to be “a good Catholic”. Instead, as Pope Francis and Pope Benedict and Pope St. John Paul said over and again, “It is about a real encounter with Christ—an encounter that changes our lives.” It is this encounter we wish to share with others so that they too might come closer to the light, love, and life of Christ. Why not ask God to give you the opportunities to share your faith and to tell others what good things God is doing at OLR? If you ask for the opportunities to be given you’ll be amazed how the way opens before you and you are not only given the opportunity, but you will also be given the words to speak. October 16, 2016 Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

When I am conducting seminars on evangelization I say to the audience, “How can you share your faith story if you don’t have one?” Too many Catholics have not embarked on the adventure of faith, and have not experienced the encounter with Christ in their lives, so it is impossible for them to share it with anyone.
