ICE CREAM SOCIAL – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19

OMAR TORRES OF PASSMAN TO VISIT MAUI

As hosted by the general manager, for store managers and owners. Join us! RSVP is required.

Call the management office 891-6770 or email [email protected].

Passman will celebrate more than 35 years of style and design this October by welcoming creative director, Omar Torres, to The Shops at Wailea gallery October 30 and 31.

The public is invited to meet him and talk story 10am-2pm or 5-7pm.

Torres was recruited by Passman three years ago to carry on the legacy of founder Bernard Passman, and today his designs embody story telling, a refined aesthetic and style.

Paris Hilton made The Shops at Wailea and Célébrités Gallery of Celebrity Fine Art one of her stops on a recent Maui vacation.

She took time to catch up with gallery owner Gerard Marti and purchase one of his paintings, a Marilyn Monroe homage titled “Sitting Pretty.”

Have you seen the koa wood watch-es at Martin and MacArthur? They are absolutely beautiful. Growing up in Hawai‘i, I’m of course familiar with koa, but never thought of it being used for a watch. A bike builder on the mainland makes his frames out of wood and bamboo, so why not a wood watch? Especially a koa wood watch.

Acacia Koa is one of the worlds most beautiful and rare woods, and doesn’t grow naturally anywhere but Hawai‘i, typically at elevations between 1,500 and 6,000 feet. In pre-western Hawai‘i, whole koa logs were carved into ocean-going canoes and were the wood of choice of Hawaiian royalty for their furni-ture. This is but a fraction of Acacia Koa’s story and you definitely want to stop into Martin and MacArthur to have store manager Ed Pasqua-lin provide you more of the rich history and culture of Hawaii’s unique, native wood.

A hui hou,

Robert “Bob” DyeGeneral Manager, CBRE

WENDY RILEY of CHICO’S moved to Maui in 1986 to help reorganize an automobile dealership. But when Chico’s FAS announced the open-ing of the store in Wailea, she set her mind on working there, initially earning a part-time position, and later as a full-time associate.

The store’s only original employee working today, Wendy says: “I feel very fortunate to be working for Chico’s with the wonderful staff I have. Together we make a great team.”
