For our October meetings we will be delving further into some of the

ideas discussed in the MomSense book by Jean Blackmer. You will

receive a copy with your MOPS membership. We will be discussing

some of the concepts from chapter two during our Oct 13th meeting.

There will also be a Mom Panel of mother daughter mothering duosavailable to answer questions about their mothering techniques and

    influences.

On October 27th we will start to discuss Whats a mama to do?

(chapter three) when the daily mama dramas are played out right

before our eyes. We will explore our decision making skills to decide

what type of decision maker we are (and what we can do about it)!

Join us for a night of refreshing fun and encouragement!

Why Membership MattersAccording to Victory Tabernacles charter agreement with MOPS International, our members are required to

register with MOPS International no later than their third visit to MOPS. The membership cost of $23.95

which goes directly to MOPS International. In order to keep our meetings affordable and accessible for

every MOP, Victory Tabernacle MOPS does not charge dues over and above the MOPS International

Membership. But why pay a MOPS International Membership Fee? How are the membership dues being

    used?

There are certain MOPS members that do not have to pay for their

membership (Teen MOPS for example), our membership dues go

directly to supporting these ministries to young mothers who need

support. As a member you will receive the membership package

pictured to the left. It will include:

This is not exactly a money saving tip, but its more of a heads up for

a good time to be had! Are you looking for a fun weekend away with

just the girls? If so MOPS Convention is just for you!

In August the VT MOPS Steering Team gathered with over 2000

other mommies at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville TN. We had an

amazing time learning about how to be a better mom and sharing our

stories with other moms around the world. This year we heard from

Max Lucado, Steven & Mary Beth Chapman, Lisa Harper and many

more. Please join our team this year at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine,

TX (near Dallas). If you plan to attend you will be responsible for paying your

own way, but it is SO worthwhile, start saving now!

More details will follow as the year progresses.

    If youre having trouble

    sticking to your budget

    at the grocery store or

    those Target runs, try

    putting that allowance in an

    envelope instead of using your

    credit or debit card.

    Once its gone its gone!

Each month we will feature a quick and easy recipe that will be fun for

the whole family! Of course pumpkin is top on my ingredient list during

the fall months. I got this recipe from familyfun.com. There were so

many recipes to choose from, it was difficult deciding what to make so of

course the one with chocolate won!

    Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Ingredients: 1 cup pumpkin puree, 1/3 cup vegetable oil, 2 large eggs, 1 and 1/4cup sugar,1 and 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice,

1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (plus more to

    sprinkle on top).

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a muffin tin, or line with paper. In a large bowl, mix together

pumpkin puree, oil, eggs and sugar until well blended. In another bowl, whisk the flour, baking

pow- der, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda and salt. Add to the pumpkin mix-

    ture and whisk until

just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips. Spoon batter

into prepared muffin tin, filling each about 2/3 full. Sprinkle a

few chips on top of the muffins. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until

a toothpick inserted in the middle of the muffin comes out clean.

Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then remove to a rack.

Fabulous Foliage Art from Familyfun.comMaterials Needed: Card stock, pencil, scissors, kitchen sponge, tempera paint, & plasticplate.First, have your child draw a tree trunk with branches on a piece of card stock. Then

snip and tear a kitchen sponge into roughly one-inch-wide pieces. Pour a few small puddles of tempera

paint onto a plastic plate, and place a piece of sponge on each puddle. Have your child use the sponge

pieces to stamp fall foliage onto the branches.
