Term 4 - Week 2, 13 October 2015
Welcome Back! Term 4 is off to a flying start. It is
a great start to every term to
wander through the
playground on the first
morning and see and hear all
the enthusiastic chatter about
holidays and being back at
school. Observations of all
classrooms this week have
been that students have
come back ready to work well
and enjoy a wonderful last
term together for the year!
We’re smiling ………... because we are off to Sydney! Sixteen Bilambil dancers have been selected to take part in the School Spectacular. They will be
travelling to Sydney for a five day trip where they will rehearse for two full days and perform four
shows on the 27th and 28th November. The girls are very excited and looking forward to their
dancing adventure.
Raffle tickets have been organised to assist with the cost of their trip. Prizes include 2 nights
accommodation at the Mantra Twin Towns Hotel and Apartments, a family pass to Currumbin
Wildlife Sanctuary and dinner for two at nineteen21 Restaurant at Tweed Heads Bowls Club. We
are very grateful to Currumbin Sanctuary and Tweed Heads Bowls Club for their generous prize
donations and encourage you to buy a ticket at the school office to support the girls with this
amazing trip.
After some amazing fundraising efforts, our School Spectacular dancers will soon be starting on
their performances. They will host students from Terranora and Brunswick Heads Public Schools to
join them at our school on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd October, 2015 to work with the
choreographer from Sydney. This will be very exciting for the girls as it will start the countdown until
they go to Sydney at the end of November to perform at the Sydney QANTAS Arena.
School Improvements The holidays were a great opportunity for some valuable works to
be undertaken at school. Our top block where K/1L, Stage 3 and
our music room are located is looking fresh and fancy after being
painted. The undercover area and eastern wall of our Kindy
block has also been cleaned and is looking terrific. Our top oval
has been top dressed and levelled and is starting to grow back
beautifully. Whilst this area will be closed for a few weeks of play,
the area is now much safer and healthier for all of our students!
We also are hoping that the giant eucalypt near the building on
the top area will be removed in the next couple of weeks to
finalise our maintenance program for this year. These are
definitely some great outcomes for our school.

Kindergarten 2016 Orientation Program The Orientation Program for all of our energetic and delightful
Kindergarten students for next year began today. Our new
students will be visiting a Kindergarten classroom for a few
hours over three separate days before all of them having an
afternoon get together later in the term. If you are aware of
any students who are potentially beginning school or
changing to our school next year, please have them contact
our office ASAP to coordinate their enrolment.
Playground Students are now rotating through the new playground at all
play times and in PE lessons. Students are loving the new
equipment and the many challenges it presents. I can almost
see their muscles growing as they navigate some of the
obstacles that it has on it.
School Chaplaincy Program The school after consultation with staff and the P&C have
submitted an application to be considered for the School
Chaplaincy Program for 2016-18. This resource would be a
major boost to our Student Wellbeing Program and we look
forward to finding out this term if this application is successful.
Fruit and Veg Month Friday the 18th September, 2015 marked the ending of another successful Fruit and Veg month at
our school. The aim of the month was to teach students, their families and all school staff about
the importance of fruit and vegetables and to get them excited about eating these nutritious
foods.
Throughout the school, teachers provided activities for students to raise awareness of the
importance of consuming fruit and vegetables on a daily basis. The children were given the
opportunity to taste fruits and vegetables cut up by teachers and other staff members over
three days during this special month.
We wish to thank Chris Marshall
from Woolworths Tweed Heads
for organising the provision of
fruit/vegetables for our students
on Thursday 3rd September at
no cost to the school. Your
kindness and support has been
valued by students and staff
alike.
We would also like to
acknowledge the generosity of
Woolworths at South Tweed
and Patricia Lovell for
organising fruit for us on Friday
18th September,
2015 at no cost
to the school.
Thank you for
supporting us.

Stage 2 T20 Milo Blast
Cup On the 16th September, I went
to cricket. Here's something cool
I did. I was bowling and the
other team hit it. The ball came
back so fast at me. I went to
catch it and it bounced off my
hand and hit the wickets and I
got him out.
At the Gala Day, my team was
Jade, Grace, Ella and Ruby. It
was so fun. We did lots of games
of cricket at Walter Peate Oval.
It was really fun, like EXTREMELY
FUN! We didn't win any games,
but we all had a great time.
