Tameside is a metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester, it isnamed after the River Tame, which flows through the borough andspans the towns of Ashton-under-Lyne, Audenshaw, Denton,Droylsden, Dukinfield, Hyde, Mossley and Stalybridge. It’s approx-imately 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Manchester city centre, it bordersDerbyshire to the east, and has easy access routes to The PeakDistrict National Park.

Tameside is served by 13 railway stations and work has recently been completed on the Manchester Metrolink costing£260m.

Ashton has had a market for over 700 years and was an important market centre for the surrounding area. This is still oneof the attractions of the town, with its large Victorian Market Halland open air market being open six days a week, plus a monthlyFarmers' Market. The town developed into a major shoppingvenue for the area. Stamford Street, the Victorian shopping area,boasts a range of interesting specialist shops. Close to the towncentre is IKEA, Sainsbury's and Marks & Spencer.

The Cavendish Street development

The development is located close to the centreof Ashton and is within easy reach of the localtram services, the bus station and the train station.

Excellently situated the scheme offers a varietyof shopping options with Ashton Market only a

stones throw away and the larger supermarketsare also easily accessible.

With plenty to offer by way of leisure facilities, theswimming baths are on the doorstep, Oxford Parkis just down the road and the local cinema andbowling alley are close by.

This development is a contemporary design to maximise family spacesfor town centre living.

All homes have been built with a strong emphasis on reducing the running costs through energy efficiency. Each property is of timber frameconstruction and has; a highly efficient boiler which along with highly insulated walls, roof and floors can reduce heating and running costs byup to 25%. Rotary dryers and drying areas are provided to houses to reduce the need for tumble dryers in the summer months.

Kitchens and bathrooms are designed to reduce the amount of waterused in the home to help keep bills down. The kitchens are designedso the residents can fit their own appliances in, with cooker points andplumbing ready for washing machines.

All of the homes achieve the Secure by Design certification issued bythe police which requires fencing to the rear of properties as well as aboundary to front gardens. Doors and windows have to achieve the relevant BS standards and have locking mechanisms that are requiredby all household insurers.

All homes will have a very bright and airy feel. Through the architecturewe have looked to deliver properties which people will fall in love with.

How to apply

New Charter Homes is a Housing Associationthat own over 14,000 properties throughoutTameside. Our priority is to provide safe, secure,quality homes to our customers who have ahousing need.

To apply for a property you must have an application registered with us and to do this you need to complete our online eligibility questionnaire and application form. Once thishas been completed, we will check you can joinour waiting list and will send you a confirmationletter with your membership number. You canfind out more information about how we deal withapplications by going to our website at www.newcharterhomes.co.uk.

We advertise most of our properties each weekon our website, we operate a Choice BasedLetting Scheme (CBL). Our weekly advert runsfrom Wednesdays to the following Tuesday andyour can express your interest (place a bid) inour homes any time during this period. You donot gain any advantage placing a bid early in the

cycle as assessments are not made until thecycle closes on Tuesday evening.

You can express your interest in up to three properties each week, however, you do not haveto use all three bids. Please be sure before youdo express your interest in a property that youare certain it is a home you want to live in.

Being a local company proud of our area, wewant to support customers who make a positive contribution to our communities andneighbourhoods and some of our homes will beadvertised with a preference to customers whohave a recognised Community contribution.This will apply to those people who can demonstrate one of the following:
