Become an Apprentice!As employees, apprentices earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain skills. Apprentices also receive valuable training to work towards nationally recognised qualifications. The minimum salary is £2.50 per hour, however, many apprentices earn significantly more. There may be different entry requirements depending on the Apprenticeships and the industry sectors. Those between 16-18 years old and not in education, employment or training (up to 25 for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities).

Qualifications are below level 2 which is the equivalent to 5 GCSE’s A-C grades.

The DV8 Spark project is an exciting new 4 week training programme for young people aged 16 – 18 not currently in education or employment.

Focused around employability in the creative industries, young people will have the opportunity to:

to plan and market their own event. Learn how to Design posters and flyers using Photoshop. Visit exciting Festival events. Create a new and updated CV Gain an Arts Award and NOCN Step up Award Improve opportunities for work by making valuable contacts within

the Brighton creative industries. Get support in applying for next years college courses

This course is great for any young person who wants to learn how the creative industries work, wants to meet local employers who could offer opportunities in the future and wants help getting onto a creative course

The Argus are holding a competition for young journalists (aged16-18) to submit a 200 word news story about events or issues in their local community, school, college or family. The winner will have their work published in the paper, along with a story about their success. The article will then be sent to the National Council for the Training of Journalists for judging in the national competition - which attracts a cash prize, work experience and careers advice.The competition closing date is May 27th and entries should be sent to
