In a career spanning over 60years, she had acted with lead-ing actors including MGR,Sivaji Ganesan, NTR, KamalHaasan, Rajinikanth, Nagesh,‘Cho’ Ramaswamy, ‘Thengai’Srinivasan as well as present-day actors.

Her performances matchedand sometimes even betteredthat of the lead actors of hermovies.

Her first film was MalayittaMangai produced by lyricistKannadasan in 1958.

She was also a versatilesinger and had worked with lead-ing music directors.

She was fondly called ‘Aachi’after portraying the role of aChettiar girl in the radio serial

‘Kaappu Katti Chatram’ in the1960s. The serial was a big hit,and the Aachi title stuck.

She had acted in over 1,500films, 1000 stage shows andsang hundreds of songs.

Her name was included inthe Guinness Book of Recordsfor acting in the maximumnumber of films. She was apast vice-president of SouthIndia Cine Artists Association.

The veteran actor hasrubbed shoulders with leadingcomedians spanning the 60years including NSK, T.R.Ramachandran, Chandra-babu, Thangavelu, Nagesh,Cho, Goundamani, SuruliRajan, Vadivelu and Vivekh.
