On Friday, there will be special poojas from 6 a.m and a spiritual talkon ‘Sri Rama Navamiyum Sai Babavum’ by Veeramani Raju at 8 p.m.
Sita Kalyanan will take place at 11 a.m on Saturday. The idol of GreenSayee Baba will be taken out on a procession at 8.30 p.m.

Men and women who are physically fit and are willing to stay in Tirumalafor a week are welcome to offer their services for 6 hours everyday. Thework will be of supervisory nature.

various nationalities, Hitler, history’s biggest murderer, inhis push down south, gave sleepless nights to WinstonChurchill who was lording over British East Africa wherethousands of Indians were settled seeking pasturesanew.Many of them were employees of the British Crownwhich had quietly annexed Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyikamuch before Hitler’s atrocities began in earnest.
My father T. A. Nayar was recruited by the British inIndia and posted in Nairobi in Kenya in the postaldepartment as Secretary to the Post Master General ofthe aforesaid three territories. My younger brother Kanthuand I were born in Nairobi and, by the time Hitler wentberserk, both my sisters who had been born in India werealso in Nairobi.
With the Second World War in full swing, my parentsdecreed that my mother and the four children should returnto the safety of God’s own country and await Hitler’s rout.We boarded the beautiful ship ‘Isipingo’ from Mombasaand I personally felt a tug in my throat at the sight of myfather fading from the wharf. All of us cried. That was ourfirst taste of war. Tears and fractured lives, full of pain.
‘Isipingo’ chose to offload the human cargo, for reasonsunknown to us, at Colombo in Ceylon, another slave islandcountry of the British Crown. Before we disembarked, webought two beautifully handcrafted ebony elephantreplicas, sold by adventurous business chaps at theharbour. These two elephants are 76 years old now andinherited by the next of kin of the old group, among whichI am the sole survivor! My parents, sisters and youngerbrother have since then gone to join the party of Hitler,Churchill and the mighty warriors of the Second WorldWar.
My Ceylon elephant is with my daughter Neethi inBengaluru as her only inheritance from her lawyer father,in whose mind is etched the futility of personal possessionof pelf and acquisition of things through blood, toil andtears.
These thoughts were revived the other day when wewatched “Kannathil Muthamittal”, the magnificent picturecreated by Tamil filmdom’s king, Mani Ratnam. I relivedthe sights and sounds of Ceylon which we visited for thosefew hours in 1939, drinking in the sights of the myriadBuddhas who seemed to be everywhere! Thank you, Mani,for the memories!

Sir, Only the white board buses on routenumbers 11G and 12G stop at Ram Colony busstop (7th Avenue, near TNSC Bank, AshokNagar), which is between Ashok Pillar andPostal Colony bus stops.
