Decide: Why did I choose this product?

I have a love for human and animal health. I have worked in Veterinary medicine for over 13 yrs as an LVT.

Wanted to make something that humans and animals could enjoy together.

I give my furry kids almost everything I eat. When hiking you do not want to carry a lot of food with

you, and this product allows you to carry less.

with bowls of water set out just for them, and inside Home Depot where the employees carry treats in their smocks.

Americans are spending more and more on their pets every year. Total U.S. Pet Industry Expenditures:

Develop: How did the recipe evolve?

Have knowledge of what dogs can eat and what they like

Dogs generally like bland foods, but the trick was to make it taste good for humans as well.

Searched online and found various recipes, and wrote down some ingredients that I

might use Experimented with time & temperature 8 min @ 350ºF worked best Trial and error with several batches:

1st batch was too dry and bland 2nd batch was more moist, but still bland 3rd batch was the best

Define: Ingredients

Dry:o 2 cups whole wheat

flouro 1 cup oatso ½ cup nonfat dry milko ½ tsp salto 2 tsp cinnamon o 2 tbsp ground flaxseed

Wet:o 2 eggso ½ cup peanut

butter(creamy or crunchy)

o 1 cup pumpkino 3 tbsp molasseso ½ cup packed brown

sugar

Taste Test

I have two dogs and watch several others Which means there was a variety of breeds

and ages to use as my test subjects Total of 8 canines and 2 felines

Three were “picky” eaters, and they gobbled them up and begged for more One feline ate the batter and the other nibbled on a biscuit

No test subjects experienced any GI indiscretions.

Biscuits were kept in a sealed container and were able to be eaten weeks after they were made.

Several humans ate the biscuits from batches 1 & 2, which were noticeably dry and bland.

Third batch of biscuits proved to have a sweeter taste and had more moisture.
