LED Icon Light Description

On (Not Flashing)

Indicates a problem that is not fatal to the server but that you should attend to as soon as possible. Circumstances that cause the Fault LED to light up include the following:

* The temperature inside the server's enclosure is unusually high.

* The voltage on one of the server's output supply is unusually high.

* One of the server's internal circuit breakers has tripped, indicating a problem with a device connected to the SCSI or USB ports.

* The System Configuration Card, containing the server's serial number, MAC address and NVRAM settings, has been removed.

* One of the DC power inlets has failed.

* The LOMlite2 watchdog has timed out, indicating that the server has locked up. You can configure the server to restart automatically after a lockup.

Flashing On and Off

A problem has occurred that is fatal to the server. Circumstances that cause the Fault LED to flash include the following:

* The speed of one of the fans inside the server is too low.

* The temperature inside the server's enclosure is too high. (By default, this causes the server to shut down.

* The voltage on one of the server's output supply rails is to high. (By default, this causes the server to shut down.

* The temperature inside the CPU is too high. (This causes the server to shut down.)

Power

(Green)

On The server is powered on.

Off The server is in standby mode.

To install the Lights Out Management (LOM) software, use the CD entitled

"Software Supplement for the Solaris 8 Operating Environment". The LOMlite2

software is in the following directory:

../Netra_t_Lights_Out_Management_2.0.

# cd /cdrom/cdrom0/Netra_t_Lights_Out_Management_2.0/Product# pkgadd -d . --) accepting the default will install the packages in the correct order.

Once these packages are installed successfully, apply the latest LOM patch:

110208-21 using the following syntax.

Unzip the patch 110208, change the permissions on the patch directory, and add

the patch. This example uses /export/home as the directory where the patch

resides.

# cd /export/home# unzip 110208-21.zip# chmod -R 777 /export/home/110208-21# patchadd -M /export/home 110208-21

There must be less than 1 second between the "#" and "."  lom> ------> This is the prompt you get Root can change this character sequence:  # lomctl <new first character>  Only the first character ("#") can be changed. You don't need to know the previous  character to do this. To find out the current sequence do an "init 5":  # init 5  This shuts down the system and gives you the "lom>" prompt Then to show the current two-character sequence type:  lom> show escape To move between the "lom>" prompt and the "ok>" prompt type:  lom> console See Infodoc 27372 for a flow chart of how to jump around between the "lom>", "ok>" and "OS" prompts. You can set the boot mode of a netra using the below "lom>" command:

 lom> bootmode [-u][normal|forth|reset_nvram|diag|skip_diag]

-u   allows sharing of the console and LOM device

normal server boots using the OBP environment settings   -must reset server to take effect

forth server stops at the "ok>" prompt- same as "Stop-f"   -must reset server to take effect

reset_nvram -"ok> set-defaults" or "Stop-n"   -must reset server to take effect

diag runs full POST- "ok> diag-switch? true" or "Stop-d"   -must power off server and back on within 10 minutes

skip_diag - ok> setenv diag-switch? false"   -must power off server and back on within 10 minutes

Description: TopThis document is a quick reference to Lights Out Management (LOM)commands. It applies to LOMlite2 only.

Document Body: TopCOMMAND EFFECT alarmoff n Sets alarm n off (where n is 1, 2, or 3). These three alarms are software flags. They are associated with no specific conditions, but are available to be set by your ownprocesses. The alarmoff command must have a space prior to the alarm #.

alarmon n Sets alarm n on. (See the description for the alarmoff command.) The alarmon command must have a space prior to the alarm #.

break Takes the server down to the ok prompt.

bootmode Determines the behavior of the server during the boot process.

check Resets monitoring to report all failures. If a monitored component has failed, the LOMlite2 device will not continue

to report the same failure. For example, to check the statusof the component after attempting to fix it, issue the check command. This updates the status of all monitored components.

console This command takes you out of the LOMlite2 shell and back to the # prompt or ok prompt, depending on how you invoked the LOMlite2 shell. It returns control of the serial connection to the console. environment Displays the temperature of the server and the status of the fans, power supply over-temperature monitors, alarms, and fault LED.

faulton Sets the Fault LED to On.

faultoff Sets the Fault LED to Off.

help Displays the list of LOM commands.

loghistory Displays all the events in the LOMlite2 device s Event Log.

logout For use by named users whom you have set up with password access to the LOMlite2 device. It returns them to

the LOM user login prompt.

poweron Powers the server on.

poweroff Powers the server down to standby power mode. reset Resets the Netra 20 server.

show model Displays the server model.

show hostname Displays the server name (equivalent to the Solaris uname -n

command). show eventlog Displays the LOMlite2 device s event log. The event log is the list of the last 10 events to have been stored in the LOMlite2 device. The most recent event is the one at the bottom of the list.

show escape Displays the current LOMlite2 escape sequence. show Displays all the information available with the show command.

useradd Adds a user to the LOMlite2 device s list of permitted users.

userdel Deletes a user from the LOMlite2 device s list of permittedusers.

usershow Displays the details of a named user s LOMlite2 account.

userpassword Sets or changes a user s password.

userperm Sets the the permission levels for a named user. version Displays the version number of LOMlite2 device.
