It is hereby informed that the Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and Information & Library Network Centre(INFLIBNET), Gandhinagar (Gujarat) (an Autonomous Inter-University Centre of UGC) have signed aMemorandum of Understanding (MoU) in terms of UGC Regulation 2009 (Minimum Standards & Procedure forAward of MPhillPhD Degree) vide Notification dated l" June, 2009. In order to start submitting online PhDtheses to Shodhganga and synopses to Shodhgangotri repositories respectively, the following actions are requiredto be taken while submitting PhD theses and synopses in the University:

Submission of Ph.D. Thesis

1. All PhD scholars are required to check their thesis using anti-plagiarism software service and ensure propercitations for the quoted work. The service may be availed by requesting the concerned Head of theDepartmentlDepartmental Research Coord inator.

2. While submitting their Ph.D. thesis to the Supervisors, research scholars shall also submit a duly signed copyof "Similarity Report Summary" generated by anti-plagiarism software with complete softcopy of the reportin pdf format.

3. The Supervisor and the respective DeaniHead shall sign the Ph.D. thesis only after verifying the "SimilarityReport" vis-a-vis the softcopy of the report and satisfying themselves. .

4. Ph.D. thesis along with "Similarity Report" shall be submitted to the Controller of Examinations, JM! interms of Para 10 (B) of the Ordinance 9 (Academic) ofthe university.

5. After successful completion of Ph.D. viva-voce examination, the student shall submit a softcopy of thesis onShodhganga portal. The procedure may be seen at http://shodhganga.inflibnet.ac.inlmanuall

6. The student is required to print a "Certificate of Submission" from the Shodhganga portal and submit a self-attested copy to his/her Department along with two-copies of the following:a. Hard-bound copies of thesisb. Chapter/Section-wise softcopy of thesis as submitted on Shodhganga on CD/DVD. A sample showing

file naming conventions is given at Annexure - I.c. Softcopy of Ph.D. thesis Abstract (pdfformat) on CD/DVD.d. Authenticity Certificate & Metadata (Annexure - II)e. Consent for digital archiving (Annexure - III)

7. The Department/Centre concerned shall forward the above to the Office of the Controller of Examinations.

Submission of Ph.D. SynopsisFor formal registration in Ph.D. program, a candidate shall also submit a "Similarity Report Summary" and takeother necessary steps as outlined in Para 2(f) of the Ordinance 9 (Academic) of the university. After formalregistration in Ph.D. program, the student shall upload his/her Ph.D. synopsis approved by the concernedBoard/Committee of Studies on Shodhgangotri portal. A copy of the confirmation email received fromShodhgangotri portal shall be submitted by student to the Chairman, Board/Committee of Studies, who shallreport the same to the Board/Committee of Studies.
