1/2 Emu’s Easter Creations

Miss Drenkhahn’s class have been busy making Easter craft in 1st term and writing interesting stories for their diary : My Life in an Egg Shell. Holly Fitzgerald and Kara Forbes wrote the Diary stories. Dear Diary, I can play inside my egg because it is cosy inside. My brother and I play all day. We roll around the chicken pen. I love our home and parents. When I go to sleep I wriggle all night. My egg is stripy, at the top there are spots. I feel warm and safe inside my egg. I love my egg. Kara Saitta

Dear Diary, I love being in my precious egg. I don’t want to leave it because it’s warm and comfortable. It makes me happy. I play, sleep and roll around in my egg. In my egg I get air and oxygen, I can breathe in there. I sleep more then play around. I am a relaxing chick. I lay around in my egg sometimes. I like to relax in my egg. Holly Fitzgerald

Dubbo Science and Engineering Challenge

The Science and Engineering Challenge encourages students to consider a career in STEM

(science, technology, engineering & mathematics) in a day long competition that is fun and hands

on activities.

The competition was held on Wednesday 29 March at the Dubbo Turf Club where 31 enthusiastic

students from Warren Central competed against 8 other schools in eight different activities.

This year, activities included ElectraCity, Grasping the Straw, Helter Skelter Shelter, Confounding

Communication (new), Flatpack (new),Mission to Mars, Catapult and Bridge. The first four were half

day activities while the others were full day. Four of the groups doing half day activities swapped af-

ter lunch while the rest continued building their projects from simple materials to be tested at the end

of the day to score points.

I would like to thank all the participating students for being respectful, responsible learners on the

day.

The school kindly acknowledges and thanks the Warren Shire Council for paying for student

transport and student levy through the “Building Stronger Communities Grant”

Thanks to Mrs Hamilton, Ms Duncan and Jack James (bus driver) for their help.

Last Saturday the Warren community hosted

Relay for Life. On behalf of our school, a small

group of students and Mrs Jen Mayger

volunteered to prepare and serve afternoon

tea. This event was for 100 of our local cancer

survivors and carers. The organisation and

planning for this has been happening since last

term and I would like to congratulate and thank

them for all of their hard work as it was very

successful. The entire class of 11 hospitality,

11 Food Technology and 9/10 Food

Technology were busy with food preparations

during last week, ensuring Saturday ran

smoothly. It was a lovely day over at the

complex and Warren Central School received

many well deserved positive compliments.
