Principal’s Message
Monday 14 March was a Pupil Free Day at KHS. All Year 12 teachers attended professional development in Darwin related to their particular subject area. The remaining teachers spent the day participating in a Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training course. Both groups of staff have commented on how valuable and relevant the training was.

Year 7 Update
Year 7 students have been working
hard to complete their first
assessments in class.
Last week after Assembly, Year 7
students and Home Group teachers
had an excellent time playing line
tiggy. It was an excellent way to get
the blood pumping and have a laugh
in the morning.
If you have any concerns about your
child’s progress please contact me at:

Un-notified Collection of Students
If students are required to leave School grounds for appointments or are required to leave early, it is vital that parents/caregivers notify the Front Office by 8.25am that day. If notification has not been received by this time, parents/caregivers will be required to wait for an Assistant Principal to arrange for the student to be collected from class. Emergency situations will be dealt with accordingly.
Issue #4
Year 9 Update
The Year 9 Camp is fast approaching.
Unfortunately we have only 20 students signed up
to go on Camp.
This means that there is a risk of the price of the
Camp increasing or the Camp being cancelled
altogether. Could parents and students please
return the permission form ASAP.
Parents are invited to the Year 9 Breakfast BBQ on
March 31 at the front of the School, to help us
celebrate our successes this Term.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with and
questions at

Year 8 Update
The Year 8 cohort have had a packed filled Term 1. This week we celebrated the term with a BBQ breakfast.
A few parents came down and mingled with some of the year 8 Classroom and Home Group teachers. We are almost at the end of our Diary, Uniform and Attendance competition with the winning Home Groups receiving their rewards in Week 10.

2OE Longhole Excursion.
After a slow start and some unexpected bus
troubles, the Stage 2 Outdoor Education class
made their way to Longhole in Nitmiluk
National Park. Students worked on their hiking
fitness, understanding of risk management
processes and investigated different methods
used by Park rangers to maintain and promote
sustainable use in the National Park.
ANZAC Day
April 25 is ANZAC Day. Katherine High School encourages staff, students and families to attend the Town Service.
On Friday April 22 the High School will be holding a Service to commemorate the
ANZACs. In the lead up to this date we would like to involve as many stories from our School community as possible, these will be displayed in the Library and on PowerPoint.
If you have a photo or a story you wish to share on what ANZAC Day means to you, please email to [email protected].

Middle Years Matters
Middle Years Classes Term 2
Parents and students are advised that there may be some changes to Middle Years classes in Term 2 as a consequence of new enrolments and exits, so that numbers are balanced across classes. Data from PAT testing will also contribute to some changes to ensure students are in the classes that best supports their learning. All students will be issued with a new copy of their Timetable at the start of Term 2.
ICT Devices in Class
Students are allowed to use their ICT device only when their teacher has given them permission to do so. If permission is not given from the teacher, students will be required to leave their device at home for a given period of time. The relevant Assistant Principal will contact parents/caregivers to inform them of the length of the time the device is to remain at home.
