America’s leading female lawyers celebratedat Euromoney Legal Media Group’s inauguralAmericas Women in Business Law Awards atEssex House in New York last night.
New York City Council Member Gale A Brewerdelivered the keynote address to an audienceof in-house and private practice attorneys.The lawyers had gathered to celebrate theachievements of the firms setting the standardin terms of female-friendly work practices, andwomen leading the field in the legal sectoracross the Americas.
Ambassador Charlene Barshefsky, formerUnited States Trade Representative collectedthe Outstanding Achievement award andBrooksley Born, former chair of the US
Commodity Futures Trading Commission,picked up the Lifetime Achievement prize.
In the firm categories, Latham & Watkins wasnamed best international firm for women inbusiness law. Cadwalader Wickersham & Taftcollected the best gender diversity initiativeby international firm, Sullivan & Cromwell wasnamed most innovative firm, Skadden ArpsSlate Meagher & Flom was rewarded for itsmentoring program and Sidley Austin pickedup the best international firm for talentmanagement.
