Zillay speaks four languages, has an MBA from the Melbourne Business School, and currently runs a successful IT business with her husband, Assim. She has many skills and is an asset to our club. Especially as she boosts our female membership and brings down our average age signifi- cantly! Zillay brought her daughter Rubab along to the meeting. This delightful young lady was keen to come to the meeting to find out more about what Rota- ry was about, and ob- viously also to hear her Mum’s talk. Maybe she will follow in Zil- lay’s footsteps one day and become a Rotari- an? One of our esteemed Honorary members, PP Brian Kimpton, was also a guest for the meeting, as well as partner Shirley Frewen. Always good to see Honorary members and partners of members join us at our meetings. Our attendance man Greg (refers to himself as “the meals man”) is asking members to let him know if they will be attend- ing our changeover night on 27 June. He needs to know as soon as possible so arrangements for the night can be final- ised. It would also make it much easier for the cash desk on the night if payments ($55 pp) can be made in advance. The rush of bookings coming in for the Jonathan Usher night on 30 July means we should reach the maximum number of 200 very soon. So if you haven’t put in your acceptance to Megan yet I suggest you do so before you miss out! Also raffle prizes are needed for the night so please help out if you can. Me- gan is asking for payment in advance ($60 pp). This Week’s Speaker; Zillay BatoolTopic; Person Behind the Badge

As always it is fascinat-ing to hear the life sto-ries of our membersand Zillay’s was no ex-ception. However, withher IT background, wewill come to that later, her presentation was ona whole new level; across fading video col-lage set to music whichcaptured the essence ofher life in six minutes.

Born, raised and edu-cated in Gujrawala inPakistan Zillay was fortunate to be in a part of thecountry where girls had access to education. Shegraduated top of the class with a BSc in Mathematicsand Physics.

She has one younger sister and three brothers. Asadherents to the minority Shia Muslim faith they allran the risk of persecution and have left Pakistan tolive abroad.

She met her hus-band Asim Abbason her weddingday. They havetwo children , adaughter Rubab

Batool and a sonHamza Abbasborn in 1996 and1997 respectively.

Zillay, Asim and the children came to Australia in2000 and where naturalised in 2002.

As her qualifications were not recognised in AustraliaZillay set about gaining ones that were! Completingan accounting degree and then a Masters of Fi-nance.

After working in the accounting side of a number anumber of businesses she joined Asim in their own ITcompany. While initially working on the financialside she soon found that her original skills in scienceand mathematics meant she could also readily han-dle the technical side as well. Their company

Real IT was created with the objective to operate asthe Technology department for medium, small andhome businesses.

With a successfulbusiness now in placeand the family grow-ing up Zillay is keento help others inneed.

Karijini National Park in WA is one of thelargest and most photogenic national parksin Australia. The park is famous for its sheergorges, waterfalls, sparkling rock pools andcool swimming holes. Karijini is about 275kmsouth of Port Hedland and 100km east ofTom or Paraburdoo. The park is all aboutexploring serpentine tunnels of marbled rock, clambering over boulders, squeezing throughnarrow tunnels, inching your way along ledg-es, paddling through subterranean water-ways and descending deep into chasmswhich have been eroded into the landscapeover two billion years
