We now know. Michael created and now runs the charitable organisa- tion Footys4All, which, through the donation of footballs, gives children from underprivileged backgrounds the op- portunity to play sport the way most Aussie kids take for granted. See page three for more details We had as our guest a friend of Greg Every, Margaret Campbell, who was keen to come along and find out what our Rotary club is about with a view to considering applying for membership. I hope we see Margaret again soon. Partner Shirley Frewen also attended the meeting accompanying Rotarian husband Roger. lent considering the wintry weather on the day. Bythe way we are getting regular updates from sunnyItaly/Greece/Turkey from Susan, who is having awonderful time. But I am sure she will be happy tobe heading back home eventually after all her trav-els. Not sure how she will adjust to our cold winter

though!

At the meeting we recognised two of our members,Harry Wolfe and Rob Fenton, for reaching the mile-stone of 10 years’ service with Beaumaris Rotary.On behalf of the club I would like to thank Harryand Rob for their contribution over those 10 years.Congratulations to you both.

This is my last President’s comments for In Gear, asincoming President Bob (Robert) McArthur will be

taking over as President on the 27th

June when wehave our club changeover.

It has been a privilege to serve as your President forthe year 2012/2013, and I would like to thank allthe board members, club service team and everymember for making this past year the successful yearthat it was.

A special thank you must go to David Lea, who hastirelessly produced an excellent edition of our week-ly bulletin In Gear every week. Well done David.

I wish Bob and his team all the very best for theyear 2013/2014

June 2013 - All Abilities Gala Soccer Day 

RCOB was delighted to accept the request for helpat the JCAAA (Joint Council for Access for All Abili-ties) Gala Soccer Day on a lovely. crisp Winter'sday; Mary , David, Chris & Heather did a great jobserving a BBQ lunch to the players, families andhelpers after the children had enjoyed a morning ofsoccer training and games. JCAAA is an innovativecommunity development service shared by the Citiesof Bayside, Port Phillip, Glen Eira and Stonningtonand works with the community to facilitate the de-

velopment of sustainable sport, recreation and artsopportunities for people with disabilities. This Week’s Speaker; Michael GallusTopic; Footys4Alll

Michael Gallus is mar-ried with three children(Thomas 13yrs, Lily 10years and Ben 7 years)and is the Primary His-tory Co-Ordinator anda year 3 teacher atPenleigh and EssendonGrammar School.

IHe live in East Keilor and has coached at PEGS pri-mary school football, cricket, basketball, hockey andsoccer. He has also coached AGSV Cricket and Bas-ketball at year 7, year 9 and senior levels. He cur-

rently coordinate the Aberfeldie Auskick centre with170 children and 20 coaches and is an assistantcoach of his sons' u14 Aberfeldie Division 1 footballteam.

Michael has also had a radio and TV career for 10years commentating AFL football with commer-cial radio and TV stations. SEN, KRock, NIRS andNITV as well as calling for community radio VAFAFootball with Inner Fm and VFL footballwith Stereo 97.4FM. He also spent 2 years work-

ing part time in recruiting for the AFL clubthe Brisbane Lions.

All these experiences led him to create and run TheFootys4all foundation to give children who are cur-rently missing out an opportunity to experience theopportunities that become available through playingsport all by giving them a ball from all codes.

The Mission of the Foundation is;

As a not for profit foundation we will supply new

sporting balls from all codes (footballs, basketballs,soccer balls, etc.) to disadvantaged, underprivilegedand socially displaced children around the worldfree of charge. We aim to unite the world throughthe power of sport.

Footys4All primary target is the estimated 650,000children who live below the poverty line in Australia.They believe that if they can raise $10 million theycan reach this target.
