PRESIDENT’S COMMENT
I would like to start the year by wishing all our Membersand readers of In Gear a very Happy New Year! I amvery much looking forward to 2013, with many eventsand activities on our agenda.
I trust everyone had a most enjoyable festive season withfamily and friends, and made the most of the break.
Harking back to Christmas Eve; what a wonderful effortby Susan, Judi, Charmaine, Adrian and all the others whosupported the Bunnings sausage sizzle. Your effortsraised $1711 which is a terrific result.
We had our first “meeting” of the year – actually it was9 holes of golf followed by a BBQ at our favourite ven-ue, the Victoria Golf Club, so it was more of a socialevent than a meeting. A big thank you to Tony Phillipswho did an excellent job organising the event. We had50 or so golfers plus nearly 70 for the BBQ – a fantasticturn up, which included many partners and guests.
The hat was passed around for the Tasmania bushfirevictims (an appeal run by Tasmanian Rotarians), with$300 being raised on the night. Thanks to all those whocontributed – a great effort. $200 will be added to this

from club funds, so we are able to send off $500 forthe appeal.
We have a busy time coming up, with lots of eventsthat are outside our normal meetings. As starters weare helping out with a sausage sizzle at the Dog’s
Breakfast event at Ricketts Point on 19th Jan be-tween 9 and 11am. This event is being organisedby the Marine Park Ranger (Vic Parks) as an infor-mation event for dog owners. Trish along with Adri-an’s Community team will be cooking the sausagesand handing them out to the dog owners – and thedogs too I guess!
In February there will be a welcome back dinner forour district GSE team returning from Malaysia (6 Feb – in lieu of regular meeting 7 Feb), RCOB sausage
sizzle for the new Black Rock playground openingceremony (10 Feb), a New Generations seminar -RCOB are hosting this (12 Feb – in lieu of regularmeeting 14 Feb), a welcome dinner for the visitingMalaysian GSE team (19 Feb). And our regularmeeting on 21 Feb will be a joint meeting with Hun-tingdale Rotary.
I will be away for the next 2 weeks, so PE BobMcArthur is stepping into the breach. I am sure youwill all enjoy having Bob as your “acting President” – thank you Bob for helping out
Stay safe and have a wonderful week
