BUILDING ADDITION COMMITTEE REPORTS

We conducted our first combined meeting with Stantec our Architect and PCL our Construction Manager.

Page 2: He is Risen, Alleluia! - ourladyofpeaceregina.commercy through the promise of the Risen Lord: "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe." (Jn 20.29) AL Finally,

This Sunday is the 2nd Sunday of Easter and also Divine Mercy Sunday. Two different names for this Sunday but it is the same Gospel about Doubting Thomas. We may laugh at Thomas because he did not easily to believe that Jesus rose from the dead reported by his friends the apostles when Jesus appeared to them without Thomas present.

However, in the history of salvation we see a lot of occasions in which God can turn bad into good. In this case, because of Thomas' doubt we can see God's great mercy manifested to him. His great mercy did not manifest to Thomas only but also to all the apostles who although they saw the Risen Lord they still lived in fear. They still met behind the locked doors for fear of the Jews (Jn.20.19). No matter who they were, The

Risen Lord showed his great mercy for all of them and through them to all of us.

In today's gospel, the sacrament of reconciliation is entrusted to the Church based on all those who experience human weakness: today's Gospel said: "He (The Risen Lord) breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sin of any, they are retained." (Jn 20.22-23) This authority is reserved for God only according to the claim of Jewish authority against Jesus (Mk 2.7). This is the great gift given to the Church. On this very special occasion, we all also share God's great mercy through the promise of the Risen Lord: "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe." (Jn 20.29)

Finally, we must be confirmed that faith is a free gift from God. The faith in the Risen Lord is handed on to us through our first ancestors in faith. We must thank God for this precious free gift and strive with God's help to make it our own. Without faith in the Resurrection of Christ and our own resurrection our life as Christians is in vain (1 Cor 15.14) . It has no worth at all. May all of us experience God's great mercy on this Devine Mercy Sunday and show our gratitude to God for his free gift of faith in the Risen Lord.

Sincerely yours in Christ Fr. Peter Thang Nguyen Your pastor
