WPP Geneva
Through its group of companies WPP offers a comprehensive range of communications services internationally. Renowned for their creativity, they work with some of the world’s best known brands. When WPP engaged ISG to fit out its new Geneva headquarters they wanted something that inspired creativity but did not cost the earth.
At the onset an imaginative design concept was presented to ISG by Landor, part of the WPP group based in Chicago. Although the Geneva office was located in a traditional building, across one large floor plate, it was clear from the presentation that our client’s aspirations were far from traditional. The challenge for ISG was to produce an innovative and buildable design that worked across the 1,500 sq m floor that could be delivered within the constraints of the budget. ISG worked closely with WPP and project managers Turner and Townsend to engage with WPP employees who took part in a design competition so that their ideas for the working space could also be captured.
The entire project team developed a mutual passion for the project and the resulting design presented solutions without compromising creativity. The result is eye-catching with irregular shaped shelving and meeting rooms adjacent to office space that is adorned with mannequins, a golf cart and even a real Fiat car!
The design called for innovative lighting throughout, with the reception featuring a shower of fibre optics. As our client is a world leader in communications the office also contains the latest in audio visual equipment including numerous plasma screens. In planning and installing the M&E components, ISG paid careful consideration to the floor’s existing services so that the final office design did not require any modification that would incur additional costs unnecessarily.
Post completion the office became the headquarters for WPP companies; Young & Rubicam, Landor, TNS and Millward Brown.

The project team produced a design that presented solutions
without compromising creativity.
The project in Rolle, close to Geneva, was awarded to ISG largely due to the success of previous work delivered for this world renowned technology organisation.
Over a programme of 18 weeks, ISG delivered a design and build fit out comprising 2,950 sq m of office space across two floors.
Special local regulations regarding procurement required the team to precisely plan each individual package so that everything complied and met approval criteria. ISG procured all the individual trade packages on an “open book” basis utilising our extensive European supplier database to ensure the most cost effective solutions were achieved.
The first phase of the work included a requirement to provide accommodation for 25 of our client’s employees to qualify for a cash incentive from the local canton. ISG met this construction milestone and negotiated the occupational permit direct with the local authority to successful move the employees in on time.

ACEZurich
ACE European Group is part of the ACE Group, a global leader in insurance and reinsurance serving a diverse group of clients. Headed by ACE Limited, the ACE Group conducts its business on a worldwide basis with a physical presence in 53 countries.
ISG provided turnkey services for the fit out of the company’s 2,000 sq m Zurich office. With our client bound to a set occupancy date, a fast–track programme was produced. Despite the speed of the construction period the team overcame the challenges presented by the old building. The result was a stunning refurbishment featuring a range of high quality and complex finishes such as glass, stone and high specification joinery. The project, that comprised both open -plan and cellular office space and an executive boardroom, was complemented by feature lighting throughout. In addition the project also entailed the fit out of two private apartments, along with the rejuvenation of a roof space.
In total the project was delivered over a 12-week period, of which four weeks were pre-construction, allowing eight weeks for the actual construction. An additional challenge was posed by the project coinciding with the summer period which was overcome by careful attention to orders, lead times and logistics.

CareFusionGeneva
Global medical services company CareFusion appointed ISG to undertake the substantial fit out of their new Geneva headquarters.
The project comprised the strip out and refit of 3,500 sq m across two buildings, each with five floors joined by a link bridge. The design incorporates a main reception and visitor area with specialist lighting and a feature ceiling that enhances the design of the space and sets the tone for rest of the office. The project includes open-plan and cellular office accommodation as well as meeting and training rooms. Works included a full mechanical and electrical installation.
The building was one of the first to be built in Vaud minenergy, and includes an active ceiling slab providing heating and cooling. ISG utilised the building’s sustainability credentials, ensuring that the services took full advantage of opportunities to save our client’s future energy consumption.
The active slab also posed a challenge to the project’s acoustic requirements, as large areas have to remain uncovered. This was successfully overcome by the manufacture and installation of dual lighting boxes.
Our client required occupation of the space as quickly as possible and the ISG team facilitated this successfully through a programme of staged handovers.

When leading health insurance company Sanitas decided to remodel their offices in Lausanne, they required a contractor with experience working in both German and French speaking Switzerland. Due to ISG’s previous track-record working for Sanitas in Zurich, our client had confidence knowing that ISG would not only meet their challenging programme but also deliver the high quality that the Lausanne project demanded.
The project encompassed three floors with phase one requiring considerable strip out and demolition. The fit out comprised a mixture of office accommodation and associated staff training, meeting and welfare facilities. The team also installed a complete mechanical and electrical system as well as the latest audio visual and communications equipment, and a new fire protection and security system.
ISG ensured the project met all local authority criteria and took responsibility for applying for, and obtaining, all required permits on behalf of our client.

Working within an occupied listed building presented a number of challenges. As well as overcoming logistical restrictions, the team ensured adherence to all relevant authorities and managed all sub-contractor packages, while liaising effectively with our client’s US-based project manager.
Our client continued to occupy the premises while ISG worked discreetly around them on various projects over a 24-month period. The result is an effective workplace with state-of-the-art audio visual facilities, including a tele-presence room. All work was delivered without losing any of building’s historical charm.

We recently delivered the fit out of new offices for one of the world’s largest oilfield services organisations. The project was delivered in a circa 1970’s office building located close to the heart of Zug, that as well as offering commercial office space, also houses a number of residential apartments.
During the pre-construction period the ISG team reworked elements of the design and sought out alternative procurement solutions, utilising trade contractors from both the German and French areas of the country. This resulted in financial savings for our client.
The building’s original 1970’s design and construction presented the team with a few challenges, including its restrictive slab-to-ceiling height of just 2.47 metres. With no room for either a raised floor or a suspended ceiling, the team reworked the design to install services at surface level. This was successfully achieved through careful co-ordination and aesthetic consideration.

ISG’s team in Switzerland has successfully completed a three-phase project for technology giants Google. The organisation’s Zurich base is home to its largest engineering team in the EMEA.
On completion of the first phase, comprising 2,000 sq m across the new building’s top floor, a number of Google’s engineers took up occupation. Accordingly our team worked to ensure that the following phases did not impede their daily activities through continual communication and scheduling noisy works out of normal business hours.
The second phase, comprising over 1,000 sq m, delivered a new restaurant and bar with a large fully equipped kitchen. Its completion in February 2013 was critical as the extension to operate the restaurant in Google’s former office was due to expire on 01 March 2013. In addition phase two included a new gym, complete with changing and shower facilities.
The final stage included 4,500 sq m of eclectically themed office accommodation and meeting rooms as well as an auditorium. In delivering the project the team carried out extensive structural alterations, a full mechanical and electrical services replacement, and a high-tech IT/AV installation.
