WEEK OF JULY 15, 2009

Church Family,

As you receive this edition of The Encourager, my family

and I are hopefully enjoying a safe and restful time together in

the sand, sun, and a cool pool! We’ve worked hard the last year

and were so blessed to be able to be away for a week. I thank

you for allowing me the freedom and opportunity to get away and rest.

I would also like to thank Ricky Stark, our Minister of Students and

Education, Brian Dailey, our Minister of Music and Senior Adults, along

with the rest of our team for all they did in my absence. The Lord has blessed

us with an incredible ministry team. I hope you are as excited about what

God is doing in our church as we are. As said before, the best is yet to come!

In the weeks ahead there are so many things happening. I can’t wait to tell

you about them all. Be sure to visit the website for updates at

www.firstlyman.org. Some of you are not big into the computer thing, but

this new site is easy to explore.

One of the most important opportunities coming up is The Great Marriage

Experience. This is a marriage conference coming in August. This is for all

couples, engaged, newlyweds, or married 60 years. Call the office to sign up.

Space is very limited.

On Sunday night, August 2, our evening services will resume after taking a

breather through the month of July. On August 2, we will have a special

business meeting at the beginning of our evening service at 6PM in the

fellowship hall. I hope you will plan to join us. Also that evening, I will begin

a study of the book of Colossians. Don’t miss it!

You are such a blessing,

Pastor Scott

From The Minister Of Music & Senior Adults

Last night, I had the privilege of sharing a wonderful time with

our Senior Adults at Joy Fellowship. What a precious group! We

enjoyed a great meal together, some good conversation around the

tables, and then worshiped together through music. It was a great

night, and I am so thankful to the Lord for all of them!

I can’t tell you how much I look forward to being in worship with

our church family each week. It’s an awesome thing to think that we were

created by God to praise Him! We are free to gather together anytime and

anywhere to worship Him. What a privilege we’ve been given. I pray that we

won’t take that for granted, or take our time together lightly.

I want to challenge you to think about that the next time we enter into the

Sanctuary together. Think about WHY we are there. Think about WHO is

there. And realize that God desires to hear from us. He inhabits the praise of

His people. I Chronicles says this, “For great is the Lord and most worthy of

praise…Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength…the glory due His name. Bring

an offering and come before Him; worship the Lord in the splendor of His holi-

ness.” (16:25,28-29).

We’ll see you in worship Sunday. Come expecting the Lord to do great things!
