Hello families of St. Anthony,
I hope you are enjoying our “Minute with Monsignor” segments on the St. An-
thony facebook page. If you haven’t been watching them, give it a look. We
want to provide everyone with ideas for prayer and pondering during this sea-
son of Lent and all through the year. I encourage everyone to sit with your
families and decide who and what you can add to your daily and weekly
prayers. Remember the old saying, “The family that prays together, stays to-
gether!”
Also, if your children are in PRE or are in grades 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 in St. Anthony
School, they are using the Alive In Christ curriculum. (Grades 3-5 will get this
book next year.) If you go to their website, www.aliveinchrist.osv.com, then
click on Student and Family, you will find exercises you can do with your chil-
dren or grandchildren at home, that will correspond with their lessons in the
classroom. The Our Sunday Visitor websites are all very full of good informa-
tion and ideas for spiritually enriching your family.
Finally, there are many families who are taking the “40 bags in 40 days” chal-
lenge. Each day during Lent, fill up one bag – any size – with items to donate
to charity. This could be clothes, toys, food, or household items. Anything
you can think of! Some of the bags may be the size of a lunch bag, others a
trash bag. The idea is to fill a bag for each day and to really stretch yourself
to give from your treasures. Are you up for the challenge?
God’s blessing to you all,
Melissa Hill

From Msgr. Frank Chiodo
Friends, I hope your Lenten journey is going well. One of the best ways of journeying more closely with the Lord is to pray often the Stations of the Cross. Every Friday at 5:30pm, we gather in the church to pray together these fourteen special meditation through these prayers we draw closer to the heart of the crucified and risen Savior. Make this a Lenten priority to join us every Friday at 5:30pm, followed by the fish fry in the parish hall. At 6:00pm following the Stations of the Cross, beginning Friday the 26th of February, we will have a special fireside chat with an opportunity for questions and answers. Come for a chat with me or Fr. Andrew on the Fri-days of Lent. Bring your favorite questions or just listen and learn. The chats will be in the parish hall every Fri-day of Lent. See you there.
On Sunday Feb. 28th, the Foundation will be hosting a pasta dinner from 11:00am-3:30pm in the parish hall. Tickets are on sale now. Please see a Foundation board member to purchase your ticket(s).
