WEEK OF NOVEMBER 4, 2009

Church family and friends,

Ricky, Brian, and I are fresh off our staff retreat. Wow! We had a great time of fellowship,

prayer, and planning. We greatly appreciate your prayers, encouragement and support that

allowed us this opportunity.

One of the most exciting things we discussed on our retreat was Home for Christmas. On

Sunday morning, December 20, we will mobilize our Sunday School classes to go to our

homebound, our shut-ins, and those caring for them, and bring them Home for Christmas.

At 9:30 that morning we’ll enjoy a wonderful time of fellowship followed by a special

worship service beginning at 10:30. This service will be rich with special music and a

traditional Christmas message. Doesn’t this sound great? (More info. to come.)

Thanks to the many volunteers that made Trunk or Treat such a tremendous success this

past Wednesday night. Under the leadership and organization of the Activities Team, many

parents and children filled up on delicious hotdogs and candy!

I would also like to thank all the teams of the church that have worked so hard preparing

their budget for the upcoming year. The Budget and Finance Team, under the direction of

Charles Clayton, has just about finished up the final draft of the 2010 Ministry Plan. The

plan will be available on Sunday, November 22, and will be approved on Sunday evening,

November 29 at First Joy.

place yet? Let us know how we can assist you.

I love you and appreciate you all so much.

Wow, I can’t believe it’s November already. Thanksgiving is quickly

approaching, and Christmas is right around the corner! The music ministry is in

high gear preparing for the Advent and Christmas seasons! I wanted to go ahead

and give you a heads up on a few dates in December so you can make plans now

to be a part of the entire season here at First Baptist Lyman.

Sunday, Nov. 29- The 4th

– 6th

grade Children’s Choir will lead us in a special

presentation in our morning service as we begin the Advent season.

Sunday, Dec. 6, 6:00 PM – We will gather in the Sanctuary for a time of worship as we

sing lots of our favorite traditional Christmas carols together, and will also feature

soloists and instrumental music.

Sunday, Dec. 13, 6:00 PM – Come and worship together with all of our children’s choirs

as they present some of their favorite songs of Christmas.

Sunday, Dec. 20, 6:00 PM – This will be a glorious evening as our Sanctuary Choir leads

us in a very special Christmas presentation. It will be a beautiful time of worship, and a

great way to put the entire Christmas season in perspective!

Plan now to be here and join with our church family as we celebrate the Splendor of

Christmas!

Brian

The students and I are so excited about our Fall Retreat. Our theme

This year is “Wanted,” and we can’t wait to get back and share all that

God is going to teach us this weekend! Below is a list of students and

adults who will be going this weekend (Nov 6-8). Please pray for each of

them by name, asking God to move in our hearts and draw each of us

closer to Him. Pray for students to give their hearts to Christ and to

completely surrender their lives to Him. Pray for us all to have an open heart and mind

to what God wants to show us this weekend!
