Activities for TANF participants will include one or more of the following:

Mentoring and Counseling•
Job Search/Job Readiness•
Job Retention Services (Job Coaching •
And Counseling, Conflict-Resolution,
Financial Budgeting)
Vocational Training*•
Community Service*•
On-The-Job Training*•
Education* (GED/High School •
Equivalency Diploma, Adult Basic
Education, and/or English As A Second
Language)
* LBDNH works in partnership with various organiza-tions within the Greater East St. Louis metropolitan area to provide these services to our participants.
The purpose of the TANF Employment
Services is to provide assistance to people
who receive TANF, address any barriers
to employment, and to help TANF
clients gain skills to obtain and retain
permanent employment.
Any unemployed or
underemployed adults
who receive TANF and
who are not served by
other employment and
training programs can
recieve these services.
We endeavor to engage
our participants in a
variety of activities
tailored to meet their individual needs.
Our goal is to get participants placed in
permanent employment. We aim for this
goal by focusing in three (3) main areas:
Job ReadinessParticipants are provided with the skills to
complete job applications. They recieve
job readiness and retention
TANF Employment Services
coaching for successful job interviews with
an emphasis on timeliness, appropriate
attire, and effective communication skills.
Job PlacementWe network with employers to create
a type of employment consortium so
that all TANF participants are placed
according to thier skill level and personal
preference.
Job RetentionWe monitor each participants progress
after being hired and provide continued
job retention and support.
