Workshop Summary Just because a client claims to be employment ready

doesn't mean s/he is. When one is facing multiple barriers to employment, ensuring that sufficient supports are available is key to achieving success as one ventures out into the world of work.

The Functional Ensemble of Temperament assesses temperament traits, differentiating between three aspects of behaviour (orientation, energetic, and dynamic), using the Structure of Temperament Questionnaire (STQ-77).

This tool can provide significant information about how clients may respond to stressful situations, how they might deal with different types of work-related tasks (energetic and dynamic orientations), and to what types of work environments they would be best suited.

Marge, is that YOU?

Page 18: Temperament as a tool to inform employment readiness

The STQ is a tool for information… It is not necessarily a predictive tool Correlation does not mean causation When used as a standalone, it gives us the idea of

probability that a person will respond to certain stimuli in a particular way

Some interesting things to note: Temperament is plastic – can be impacted and affected by

trauma, age, etc. ANX, ANG, and AGG are higher in Age 1 (17 to 24) but appear

to lessen as one matures
