BACKGROUNDIn May, 2012, Friends Outside in Los Angeles County received a $1.2 million, 27-month grant from the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, for its project, “Passport to Success.”

The project will provide employment services to 404 persons who reside in south Los Angeles and surrounding communities and who were recently released (within 180 days) from prison or jail. Services will include pre- and post-release case management, mentoring, job readiness, employment supports, job referrals, job placement, and job retention.

Additionally, the project will help clients address employment-related needs, such as substance abuse treatment, mental health services, health services, and housing.
