With a pair of home games on the schedule for the weekend, EC has a chance to finish above .500 at home for the first time since 2002-03.

EC with 10 or More: EC has made 10 or more threes in 11 games this season, marking the highest number of games with double-digit three-point makes in over 14 years. Elmi-ra is 6-5 this season when making 10 or more three-point baskets. However, EC has made 10 or more threes in five of their last six games, going 4-2 in those contests, with their only losses coming against nationally ranked St. John Fisher College and Nazareth College in triple overtime.

A Pair of Top-30 Shooters: Justin Henderson ’16 and Neil Randolph ’15 have been lighting it up from three-point range all season, ranking second and third, respectively, in the Empire 8 in three-point percentage, as well as ranking in the top-30 across the NCAA. On the season, Henderson is shooting 44.3 percent from distance while Randolph is knocking-down 43.3 percent of his attempts.

Career-High for Henderson: Justin Henderson ’16 was just about lights out against Houghton College on Tuesday, hitting 8-of-10 from behind the arc. The eight made three-pointers matches his career-high. His hot shooting led to a career-high 29 points, five better than his previous high set against Clarkson University earlier this season.

Series History: The Saxons took down EC in Alfred, NY earlier this season, bringing Elmira’s advantage in the series history to 31-29. Alfred is one of two Empire 8 institutions in which the Soaring Eagles have a winning record over, the other being Houghton College.

Game Notes (does not include yesterday’s game)Upset Special: The Saxons of Alfred University knocked-off No. 16 St. John Fisher College, 60-59, Tuesday night, handing the Cardinals their first loss in conference play and snapping Fisher’s 18-game win streak. The game featured nine lead changes and seven ties, but in the end, it was Dal-ton Walsh ’15 who, after missing the first, hit the second of his two free throws with three seconds left to take down the Cardinals. Walsh finished with a game-high 18 points and 12 rebounds while also adding six blocks and two steals.

Ticket is Punched: With Alfred’s victory over St. John Fish-er, the Saxons have secured a spot in the four-team Empire 8 Tournament. Seeding for spots 2-4 have yet to be deter-mined, but the Saxons will nonetheless be playing for their first conference crown in Rochester, NY next weekend.

Protecting the Arc: Alfred has locked teams down from the outside all season, holding opponents to just 27.3 per-cent from three-point range. That percentage is the best in the Empire 8 Conference and the second-best, behind only Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in the nation.

Leading the Way: The Saxons have been primarily a two-man show this season, led by Dalton Walsh ’15 and Ty-ler Seelman ’17. Walsh is averaging 16.3 points and 9.0 re-bounds per game, both team highs, while Seelman is close behind in the scoring column with 15.9 points per contest. Walsh is also one of the best rim protectors in the Empire 8, averaging 2.2 blocks per game. In terms of assists, Alfred averages 16.1 per game as a team, however, they are fairly spread out as Tim Pacheco ’15 is the leading assister on the team with 2.7 per contest.
