He shot 5-of-7 from the floor against the Saxons, and in addition to his team-leading 13 points, he also handed out four assists.

60.8 Percent: In terms of percentage, Elmira’s 31 bench points against Alfred University represented 60.8 percent of EC’s total scoring. That is the highest percentage the Purple and Gold have recorded in a game since January 13, 2012 when EC received 66.7 percent of their total scoring from non-starters at St. John Fisher College. In that game, Elmira scored a total of 57 points, with 38 coming from bench players.

Three in Double-Figures: EC does not have a player in the top-10 of the Empire 8 in scoring, but they do have three players averaging double-digits on the season in Neil Ran-dolph ’15, Justin Henderson ’16, and Oladapo Badmos ’17. Elmira is one of just three Empire 8 institutions to have three players with scoring averages of 10.0 or better, the others being EC’s opponent this afternoon, Houghton College, and Hartwick College.

Looking Ahead: Following the conclusion of today’s game, Elmira will head back out on the road for a four-game road trip. The first of the four games is on Friday, January 16th at Hartwick College followed by an afternoon contest at Stevens Tech on Saturday, January 17th. Tip-off for those games are scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at Hartwick and 4:00 p.m. at Stevens.

Game NotesLast Time Out: The Highlanders of Houghton College took down Nazareth College, 65-60, in their previous game on Tuesday, January 6th. Houghton held an 11-point lead with 1:54 to play, but Nazareth closed the gap to just one point with 22 seconds to play. The Highlanders, however, proved clutch down the stretch, sinking four free throws, two each from Brandon Camacho ’16 and Brennan Camp-bell ’15, to pull away and seal the victory. Phil Pellegrino ’17 and Camacho led Houghton with 13 points apiece.

A Program First: The Highlanders’ win over the Golden Flyers was the program’s first-ever Empire 8 Conference win. 2014-15 is the first season of Houghton’s full eligibility within the Empire 8 Conference, having spent the previous two years as conditional members.

Averaging a Double-Double: Johnathan Stowe ’17 came in just behind Pellegrino and Camacho in the scoring column against Nazareth, recording 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting. He also pulled down 16 rebounds against the Golden Flyers to notch his fourth double-double of the year. On the sea-son, Stowe is one of two players in the Empire 8 averaging a double-double, entering this weekend of play with per game averages of 13.0 points and 11.0 rebounds.

Series History: EC and Houghton have played 37 times in their series history, including twice in each of the last two seasons. Elmira owns a distinct advantage in the series his-tory, winning 32 of the 37 matchups, and own a five-game winning streak entering Saturday’s matchup.
