Dear Friends and Supporters,

The Sports Museum had another great year in 2018. We shattered records and set new standards of accomplishment on a number of fronts, including admissions, exhibits, events, initiatives –– and especially with respect to our educational programs.

The highlight in that area was the independent evaluation report that we received from experts at Boston University concerning our Boston vs. Bulliesprogram. Data from that study indicates that Boston vs. Bullies is helping todrive a decrease in bullying within participating schools. The program is working – and it is working in high impact fashion.

That is gratifying, to say the least.

And so is the depth and magnitude of support that we receive from more than 1,700 individuals, organizations, and foundations throughout our community. With so many deserving non-profits in our city and region, this is not something we take for granted. The fact that you have chosen to support The Sports Museum amidst such a crowded field? We are honored and we are grateful.

Our growing community of supporters enables us to make even more impact and reach even more kids with our character building programs.

For all that (and more), we thank you.

Sincerely,

Joe Preston Rusty SullivanChair, Board of Trustees Executive Director

Boston vs. Bullies is The Sports Museum’s award-winning educational program that leverages the power and platform of Boston sports to help stop bullying in our schools and in our community. The Sports Museum has united the entire Boston sports community behind this effort, with the video-based program featuring current athletes (Mookie Betts, Aly Raisman, etc.) representing all of Boston’s teams. Over the past five years, more than 80,000 students in our area have experienced this program with proven impact, as conclusively evidenced by fresh evaluation results received during 2018.

Stand Strong is The Sports Museum’s immersive character education program that helps at-risk students in Greater Boston develop the type of character that they need to make the right choices in the face of drugs, violence, and other dangers. The curriculum features an integrated blend of lessons, activities, and field trips centered around the core tenets of strong character (Teamwork, Courage, Fairness, Determination, and Responsibility) that are so important to success – not just in sports but in life.
