THANK YOU June 10, 2016 Dear supporters, dear friends: Nature matters more and more as technology and media command so much more space in our lives – particularly young people’s lives – and as threats to our environment continue. The Science Center’s longstanding mission is to advance understanding of ecology, and the Board and Staff believe that educating more people, more frequently translates to better mission fulfillment. So we set out in 2012 to do what the community told us was key to reinvigorating growth: new exhibits, coverage of a broader spectrum of New Hampshire’s natural world (think Water!), and the financial resources to ensure world-class staff and facilities maintenance. Specific undertakings are outlined and illustrated in the following pages. Our original, recession-influenced campaign goal was $3.5 million. But your response was so positive we upped the goal to $4.0 million in mid-campaign, adding a raptor mews and additional water exhibits to our objectives. Together, we reached the new target, well within the original timeframe. Mission…..done! Here’s what Paul Miller and Steve Woodsum said in similar circumstances 13 years ago: To each donor who made a gift…thank you. To prospective donors who would like to support the Center’s continued work, we invite your participation. Today the Science Center is prepared to open windows to future generations of the naturally curious. We echo those thoughts, and add our own warm appreciation to all of you who’ve shown you know how much nature does matter. Sincerely, Tashia Morgridge Laurie Beeson

Dear supporters, dear friends:

Nature matters more and more as technology and media command so much more space in our lives – particularly young people’s lives – and as threats to our environment continue.

Here’s what Paul Miller and Steve Woodsum said in similar circumstances 13 years ago:

To each donor who made a gift…thank you. To prospective donors who would like to support the Center’s continued work, we invite your participation. Today the Science Center is prepared to open windows to future generations of the naturally curious.

We echo those thoughts, and add our own warm appreciation to all of you who’ve shown you know how much nature does matter.

Sincerely,

Tashia Morgridge Laurie Beeson

G O A L SThe Nature Matters Capital Campaign set out to throw open wide the doors of discovery and imagination at Squam Lakes Natural Science Center. The success of the campaign, thanks to so many, has now refreshed a vital Science Center, which will continue to build pathways to informed stewardship for learners of all ages and for future generations.

The Nature Matters campaign added three new buildings, funded an expanded marketing initiative, and added resources to strengthen the Science Center’s financial foundation.

Wood Energy Exhibit• A model of sustainability, which saves energy and dollars• Uses locally-sourced renewable wood• Heats seven major buildings

G O A L S continued

Gordon Interactive PlayscapeAn interactive outdoor play structure where children go on a climbing adventure imagining themselves as a red squirrel trying to escape predators
