SECTION A STUD BEEF

Conditions of Entry

1. Age of cattle as at the 1st April 2014.

2. Entry fee $5-00 per head or group class. No extra fee for exhibiting both days.

Prize money and/or trophies will be awarded on the day.

3. Entries close Wednesday 9th April 2014.

4. Judging to be held on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th April 2014.

FRIDAY 11th - ALL BREED FUTURITY SHOW open to all breeds of cattle under 21 months of age

and is to be judged as an interbreed competition. This will be followed by Led Steers, Junior

Paraders and Young Judges competitions. Futurity Show judging will commence from 8.30 am.

Led steers to commence weighing from 8.00 am.

SATURDAY 12th – Stud Beef Cattle will be judged in 4 sections: Tropical Breeds, British Breeds,

European Breeds and Small Breeds. We encourage any exhibits from Friday judging to compete in

the stud cattle classes on Saturday starting 9.00am.

5. All cattle over 9 months of age should have a nose ring or nose grip. All bulls over 12 months of

age MUST have a nose ring.

6. Neck collars must be used on all cattle staying overnight.

7. Calves on cows may not be older than 9 months of age as at 1st April 2014. Calves exhibited in

individual age classes on Saturday may not be exhibited with their mother as cow and calf.

8. All cattle must carry an NLIS device.

9. All animals entered in the stud cattle section must be registered with their respective Breed

Society and entered in the Herd Book.

10. Under NO circumstances will animals be allowed to get out of the handlers control. Stewards

have the right to remove any animal from the judging ring, public area, including stalls if that

animal is considered a danger to the safety of the public or other exhibitors.

11. The committee reserves the right to divide or group any class or breed for judging if numbers

dictate.

12. Exhibitors must have their own Public Liability Insurance.

13. All electrical equipment must have a current inspection tag issued by a licensed electrical

contractor.

Cattle Stalls and Camping

A $12 fee is payable by every Stud Beef exhibitor for the use of the show facilities. This includes

camping, electricity, amenities etc.

Arrival Time

Thursday 10th April 2014 from 4pm – Please enter via the Wilkes St Gate. Please be advised

undercover stalls and bedding are provided, but as we have to share with the horses, we request

exhibitors advise us of numbers as early as possible to make sure we have plenty of stalls

available.

Led Commercial Steer or Heifer Classes

Weighing will commence from 8am

Judging to follow the Futurity Show judging on Friday 11th April.

Class 13 = Led Steer or Heifer under 350kg live weight.

Class 14 = Led Steer or Heifer 351kg to 450kg live weight.

Class 15 = Led Steer or Heifer over 451kg live weight.

Paraders Competition

Beef Cattle Junior Paraders competition will be held following the Led Steer Judging on

Friday 11th April.

Competitors must be under 25 years of age as at 1st May 2014.

Cattle to be paraded can be steer, bull or heifer under 20 months of age.

Competitors are advised that a white dust coat is standard attire in this competition and

should be worn where possible.

Junior Judging Competition

Beef cattle Junior Judging Competition will be held following the completion of the

Junior Paraders Competition on Friday 11th April.

Competitors must be under 25 years of age as at 1st May 2014 - No entry fee.

MOST SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL – As an encouragement to be involved in our ‘Junior Day’

we are offering a special trophy to the most successful exhibiting school of the day.

Points will be awarded throughout the day for any prizes collected by students from

exhibiting schools. A trophy will be awarded at the end of the day to the school with

the most points.

RULES AND REGULATIONS: 1. All competitors must pay admission to the grounds. 2. All or any horse events may be cancelled should the Dalby & District Show

Society decide it is necessary to do so. 3. Horse Health Declarations will be required at the time of entry to the

grounds. 4. If, in the opinion of the judge, any horse or pony is entered in the wrong

class, the judge shall have the power to classify it in the correct class. 5. MAIDEN: A horse which has never won a first place in a hack class at any

show. 6. NOVICE: A horse which has never won a Champion Open Hack class at any

show. 7. SHOW HUNTERS: May only compete in Hunter classes unless otherwise

specified. 8. The decision of the judge shall be final. All protests must be lodged in

writing within fifteen minutes of completion of the class to the Ring Master and accompanied by a cash deposit of $100.00, such amount to be forfeited if the protest be considered frivolous or vexatious.

9. LOCAL: the horse and rider must reside within a 50km radius of Dalby. 10. The committee reserves the right to substitute or alter any events in the

program. 11. Hacks and Galloway Hacks may be ridden by a rider of any age. 12. Ponies may only be ridden by a child under 17 years unless otherwise stated. 13. Riders age is as at the first day of the Show. Horses age is relative to the 1st

August. 14. Where height is stipulated, horses and ponies may be measured by the

Societies Stewards, if deemed necessary. 15. All persons entering the ring must be appropriately attired and comply with

directions of the stewards. 16. All colts and stallions must be controlled by a stallion bit. Stallions must be

controlled by a person 18 years or over. No stallions are allowed in Hack classes unless otherwise stated.

Jack Price Memorial Show Jump Rider of the Show Est. 2012 Prize money: $500 plus Kersey Rug and Sash Jack was a well-known and much respected member of the show and campdraft communities and served as Ring Master of Dalby Show for many years. STOCKMAN’S CHALLENGE

Stockmans Challenge events are open to all competitors. Classes 120, 121 & 122 will all commence at 8am sharp with the Led Section being judged at the same time. This will be the same for the Pattern Section. The Time Trial for each class will be judged in Ring 1 after completion of morning program. All patterns taken from the ASHS Pattern Book or our own. QUEENSLAND STATE FINAL QUALIFIER

140 OFF THE TRACK Ridden Thoroughbred Entry Fee: $5 To be eligible to compete in the Off the Track class horses must have competed in an official trial or started in a race, locally, nationally or internationally. Open to all thoroughbreds unraced or raced 4 years and over, over 14.2 hands who are registered with RISA (Racing Information Services Australia). Registrations will be checked. Horses must be entered under their Racing name. The winner will gain automatic entry into the Off the Track QLD State Final to be held later in the year. Ingredients:

4 tbsp. Chia seeds, soaked in 1 cup of water for overnight, ½ cup Cacao powder (raw,

unroasted coco powder), 125gm Coconut oil, 5 medium to large eggs, 175gm Almond

Meal, ½ cup Coconut sugar (or rapadura sugar), 1 pinch Himalayan sea salt, 1 tsp bicarb, 1

cup fresh/thawed frozen raspberries, ½ cup shaved coconut. Method. Preheat oven to

180c or 170c fan forced. Line a spring form cake tin with non-stick baking paper. Soak

chia seeds in 1 cup of water for 15minutes, stirring regularly. In the meantime place cacao,

eggs, almond meal, coconut sugar, salt, bicarb, shave coconut and coconut oil in a bowl.

Whisk to combine well and break up any lumps (at least 1 minute). Add chia seed jelly

and whisk until well combined. Fold in raspberries. Pour into lined cake tin. Bake in over

for 35-40 minutes or until it bounces back when pressed in the middle. Let the cake cool

for 5-10 minutes in the tine. Finish cooling on a wire cooling rack. Serve warm or cold

with some extra raspberries and yummy coconut yoghurt.

Ingredients: Crust ½ cup pitted dates, 1 cup raw walnuts or pecans. Method Lightly

process in a food processor fitted with S blade until sticky but chunky then press into

springform pan or lightly greased (with melted coconut oil) cake pan then place in freezer

to set while making filling.

Filling 1½ cups raw cashews soaked for 2 hours, juice of 1-2 lemons (half cup of juice), 1/3

cup maple syrup/raw bush honey, 1/3 cup melted coconut oil, 2 tsp vanilla extract, pinch

Himalayan or Celtic sea salt. Method Blend all ingredients except oil unit smooth. Drizzle

coconut oil in slowly while blending on low unit well combined. Pour filling into crust

then place in freezer to set once more until serving. Garnish with lemon zest, coconut

flakes and crushed nuts if desired.

Ingredients: 100gms of Walnuts, 100gms of Dates, 2 tablespoons of Coconut Oil, 1

tablespoon of Cocoa Powder.

Method Mix Walnuts and Dates together with Cocoa powder. Blitz all ingredients

together once more. Roll small amount of the mixture into ball shape. Optional: roll the

balls in organic desiccated coconut. Refrigerate or Freeze.

SECTION L CAKE DECORATING

All class entries must be iced using fondant or royal icing and presented on a base board not exceeding 35cm (diameter or width).

These base boards must be raised on cleats sufficient to enable ease of handling. Cleats must be adhered to boards.

Wire may be used but must not penetrate the surface of the exhibit. Posy picks are permissible.

Minimum use of non-icing material such as wire, stamens, ribbon, lustre etc. to support and enhance traditional sugar based icing techniques is permitted.

Dummy cakes are allowed in all classes except novelty.

Classes 5 & 8 designs must be achievable in cake.

SECTION R EDUCATION DISPLAYS

KINDERGARTEN, PRE-SCHOOL, PRIMARY SCHOOL,

SECONDARY SCHOOL DISPLAYS.

All items in the display must be by students attending a school within a

radius of 50km of Dalby.

Each participating school and kindergarten will be presented with a certificate.

Schools will be allocated space by the Steward, the area being proportionate to

the school population.

ALL Displays must be in place within the specified area in the Secretary’s

Building by Wednesday 9th at 3.00pm

It is the responsibility of each school to erect and dismantle its own display.

Dismantling of School Displays can start 8am Sunday 13th April or otherwise

organised with the Show Office.

The Schools are no longer competing for trophies. Schools may also

choose a Theme or Work Unit on which to base their displays.

The exhibits entered by the child MUST be his/her own original creation. The

exhibit must not be a design or copy worked from instructions on boxes or sets
