The Mass Intention book will open on Tuesday, September 4, for scheduling Mass intentions for next year. Parishioners should
come to the parish office to coordinate Mass intentions with the secretary during office hours. We cannot receive requests over the phone, and only those confined to their home should make requests by mail. In order to give an opportunity to all parishioners, only six Mass intentions per parishioner will be scheduled on the initial day the Mass Intention book opens. Our previous policies will continue: parishioners can only schedule one Mass intention for a particular loved one each month, and the $10 donation that accompanies a Mass must be received the day the request is made. Thank you for your cooperation in these matters as we pray for our family members and friends. From the Pastor’s Desk
The close of summer brings with it a flurry of activities. The most important being the start of a new school year. I want to encourage everyone to pray for the young people of the parish as they go back to school. We are asking that the Lord protect them from all harm and help them to grow in both knowledge and virtue. Pray also for those men and women who work hard to make sure that these students receive a proper education. I am thinking of their teachers, tutors, coaches, parents, grandparents – the list goes on. School is probably more stressful for the adults than it is for the children, and they, too, need our spiritual support. The beginning of school gives us an opportunity to reflect upon the rhythm of our day. It is important for children to have a regular time for studying, meals, and sleep. Adults, too, need a healthy, balanced routine that enables them to take care of themselves and their loved ones. My question for you is this: Where does your spiritual life fit into your routine? Have you made time each day for prayer? Take a moment this week to consider how and when you can carve out time for silence, the Bible, and heartfelt conversation with God. This sort of daily ritual should be as consistent as, say, brushing our teeth before we go to bed. To drive this point home, I would like to highlight the commitment of several Bishop Hartley High School students who go to daily Mass at 7:00 a.m. at Christ the King during the school year. They join the adults in church who start their day with God’s Word and the Eucharist. As a priest, I am moved by this beautiful witness. These teenagers have made daily Mass a habit, fitting it into their schedules. My hope is that all of us can follow these students example, making sure that prayer becomes an integral part of our life. May the Lord bless you throughout the upcoming week.

David Sizemore to Christ the King this weekend. Fr. Sizemore will be coming to celebrate the English-speaking Masses where he will say a few words about his experience with Alpha and the impact it is having in people's lives. Bridging the Racial Divide. Christ the King is partnering with the Columbus Diocese to host a three week series called "Bridging the Racial Divide." All are welcome to take part in this opportunity for

Desde el Escritorio del Párroco
El final del verano trae un montón de actividades. La más importante es el comienzo de un año nuevo escolar. Animo a todos a orar por los jóvenes de la parroquia que regresan a la escuela. Pedimos que el Señor los proteja de todo daño y los ayude a crecer tanto en sabiduría como en gracia. Oren también por los hombres y mujeres que trabajan arduamente para asegurarse de que estos estudiantes reciban una educación adecuada. Estoy pensando en sus maestros, tutores, entrenadores, padres, abuelos – la lista es grande. La escuela es, probablemente más estresante para los adultos que para los niños, y ellos también necesitan nuestro apoyo espiritual. El comienzo de la escuela nos da la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre el ritmo de nuestros días. Es importante que los niños tengan un horario regular para estudiar, comer y dormir. Los adultos también necesitan una rutina saludable y equilibrada que les permita cuidarse a sí mismos y a sus seres queridos. La pregunta es esta: ¿Dónde pones la vida espiritual en tu rutina? ¿Haces tiempo todos los días para orar? Tómate un momento esta semana para pensar cómo y cuándo puedes hacer tiempo para el silencio, la Biblia y una sincera conversación con Dios. Este tipo de ritual debería ser tan constante como pillarnos los dientes antes de dormir. Para hacer propio este punto, quiero destacar el compromiso de varios estudiantes de Bishop Hartley que vienen a la misa diaria a las 7:00 a.m. durante el año escolar. Se unen a los adultos que comienzan su día con la Palabra de Dios y la Eucaristía. Como sacerdote, me conmueve ser atestiguar esto. Estos adolescentes han convertido la Misa diaria en un hábito adaptándola a sus horarios. Espero que nosotros podamos seguir el ejemplo de estos estudiantes haciendo de la oración una parte integral de nuestra vida. Que el Señor los bendiga a lo largo de la próxima semana. will be held on Saturday, August 25, at 7:30 a.m. We will enjoy donuts and discuss the ways in which we live out our faith as men. (This event is in English.) Pilgrimage to the South! Join the parish as we journey to several
Catholic shrines in the south, including the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama, founded by Mother Angelica. We will also visit Sacred Heart Cathedral in Knoxville, Tennessee, one of the most recently constructed cathedrals in the country. Along the way, we will celebrate Mass at Christ the King Cathedral in Lexington, Kentucky, and the Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville, Kentucky. We will leave Christ the King on Friday, October 26, at 6:00 a.m. and return on Sunday, October 28, at 9:30 p.m. The cost is $230 per person. For families, couples, or individuals who choose to share hotel rooms, we are offering reduced rates. The price includes chartered motor coach, hotel accommodations, most meals, driver gratuity, and all guided tour fees. Call Dana in the parish office for additional information. All Saints Academy Catholic School
We are very excited to begin the 2018-2019 school year and look forward to the adventures that await us in the months ahead. Our theme this year is "Come Holy Spirit, be the strength for my journey." Please pray that the Holy Spirit bless our work this year! The school continues to look for an evening custodian to clean a portion of the school building from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The hourly pay is between $10 and $14 per hour, depending on experience. The school is also looking for two part time workers for the cafeteria. The pay is between $9 and $12 per hour, depending on experience. Contact the office if you are interested. Lastly, we would like to thank the wonderful parishioners who have assisted in the garden outside the school. Several parishioners also have helped transform our school on the inside too. A special recognition goes to Jorge Guiltron, Sr.! Thank you!
Outside the Parish
Green Wave Football is open to students at All Saints Academy and parishioners of Christ the King Church. Boys in grades 4 to 8
are eligible. Green Wave is a football team comprised of students from ASA, Holy Spirit, St. Mary, and St. Catherine schools. Sign- ups began on Aug 6, but it’s not too late to become part of the team! Practices are held at St. Catherine field. Contact Coach Cooke at [email protected] or at 614-664-3075, or show to the St. Catherine field to start practice. Fees are $115. (This event is in English.)
All men of the Columbus Diocese are encouraged to attend the Silent Weekend Retreat for Men on the weekend of September 7-9. This event will be held at the St. Therese’s Retreat Center, 5277 E.
Broad Street in Columbus. Sponsored by the Catholic Laymen’s Retreat League, this year’s Retreat Director is Father Denis G. Wilde, O.S.A., Ph.D. The retreat begins on Friday, September 7, at 5:00 p.m. and the departure time will be on Sunday, September 9, at 12:00 p.m. A contribution of $150 covers the cost of the retreat. Escuela Católica All Saints Academy
