The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has requested that parishes throughout the United States take up a second collection for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Funds raised will be used to support Catholic Charities USA and other Catholic agencies as they reach out to provide humanitarian aid in Texas and other affected parts of the Gulf Coast region. This collection will be taken this weekend, September 9-10. From the Pastor’s Desk

Our catechesis program begins this weekend. I am excited that so many of our young people are going to be learning more about their faith on Sunday mornings at Christ the King. We have over 200 kids in our program this year! Let me use this week’s article to thank all of our catechists who dedicate so much time to prepare and teach lessons each week. I also want to thank our parents who sacrifice to make sure that their children make it class. At times, this is hard work, but it is worth it. We are doing our part to educate the next generation of Catholics in our Church. Please pray that we have a successful catechesis program during the 2017-2018 school year. A successful program means that our young people will not only learn about Jesus, but will also meet Jesus in a powerful and personal way. We want the Lord to enlighten the minds of our children, as well as touch their hearts. Our prayer is that Christ will reveal both his truth and his beauty, so that our kids discover a desire to follow him throughout their lives. One last note: please be extremely careful in the parking lot on Sunday mornings. We will have a lot of children around the church and school buildings. Let us keep them safe by paying close attention to how we drive. Patience and kindness are two important virtues behind the wheel! May the Lord bless you throughout the week.

The Sisters’ Corner

All men of the parish ages 25 and older are invited to a retreat next weekend, September 16-17, at the Saints Peter and Paul Retreat Center in Newark, Ohio. Ms. Amy Bittner will be available for free legal counsel in the church vestibule this Monday, September 11, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Ms. Bittner deals primarily with issues pertaining to immigration.

This is an eight week course which focuses on the qualities of Jesus as revealed through the Gospel of John. Getting to know Christ more intimately will deepen our relationship with Him. Desde el Escritorio del Párroco

Nuestro programa de catequesis comienza este fin de semana. Estoy contento de que muchos de nuestros jóvenes estén aprendiendo más sobre su fe los domingos por la mañana en Christ the King. ¡Tenemos más de 200 niños en nuestro programa este año! Permítanme usar el artículo de esta semana para agradecer a todos los/las catequistas que dedican tanto tiempo para preparar y ensenar lecciones cada semana. También quiero agradecer a los padres que se sacrifican para que sus hijos vengan a esta clase. A veces es un trabajo duro, pero vale la pena. Christ the King will host its annual Latin American Independence Day Celebration next Sunday, September 17, after the 12:30 p.m. Mass. Everyone is invited to enjoy food and dance in the school gym

new Men’s Group. The purpose of the group is to give men the opportunity to deepen their understanding of masculine spirituality and to grow in their commitment to the Lord, the Church, and their families. We will meet on the last Saturday of every month at 7:30 a.m., beginning on Saturday, September 30. We will enjoy breakfast and discuss the ways in which we live out our faith as men. All Saints Academy Catholic School

A reminder to our students: Picture Day is Monday, September 11. Bring your best smile to school. Also, we do not have school on Friday, September 15. Enjoy yet another three-day weekend! For those who do not know, our school theme this year is "Called to Serve." Our students and faculty are striving to serve each other, in light of Jesus’ example and teaching. Outside the Parish

A Mass of Healing and Healing Service will be celebrated on Monday, September 18, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown Columbus. Following the Mass, a Service of Healing will

begin with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and veneration of a relic of the true cross of Christ. Each person will have the opportunity to speak individually with a priest and receive prayers of healing for what they seek. The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will also be available. All persons who seek Christ’s healing are welcome. Caregivers, family members, and members of the medical community are invited as well.
