Camp- bellsport and Eden trick or treat hours will be on differ- ent days again this year. This Saturday afternoon, Oct. 29, children will be able to go door-to-door to ask the age-old question and hope for goodies in their bag or pumpkin in Campbellsport. The Vil- lage of Campbellsport has designated 2 p.m.-4 p.m. as its trick or treating hours. The Village of Eden has designated 3 p.m.-5 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 30, as its trick or treating hours. Please make sure your children are supervised by an adult and that their cos- tumes/masks are safe for walking, vision and weath- er-appropriate. A flashlight is advised during twilight hours. Have a good time and stay safe this Halloween. Trick Or Treating In Campbellsport And Eden By Andrea Hansen Abler When you hear about the successes that Lind- say Muench of Campbell- sport has had hunting, you would never guess that she has had to overcome some obstacles in order to hunt. In just her second year of hunting, Lindsay has already shot three deer this month and she bagged a turkey and a bear this spring and two deer last year. Muench has really done well since finishing at the top of her hunter’s safety class two years ago. Knowing Lindsay makes all this success even more impressive. The Camp- bellsport teen was born Campbellsport Youth Has Great Succes Despite Disadvantage By Tina Ebert Most parents want their children to develop their own likes and dislikes. When it comes to horses, though, the love carried over from mother to daughter. Leah Haebig of Camp- bellsport was thrilled when her mom, Becky, got the horse back that she showed before heading off to college. Leah started rid- ing Pixy Janes Star and that was all it took, she was hooked on horses. That was only three years ago. Heabig wanted to com- pete, but Star couldn’t. Star was boarded at a stable owned by Ranee Guyant. Guyant had a three-year old American Quarter horse named Tuckers Melody Jac who Haebig would show in the WHRA (Wisconsin Horse Ranch Association). This was Leah’s first show season. She received Hi Point in All Around and Western Showmanship. Throughout 2009 she com- peted on Tucker and a four- year-old American Paint horse named Snap To A Awe or “Lilly”. In 2009, Lilly and Heabig competed at the Fond du Lac County Fair through the Campbellsport 4-H Club. Together they won multiple top awards. In order to compete at the state level, riders need to complete the sixth grade. Haebig would have to wait another year. Also in that year, she was awarded Year-End Hi Point Youth in Trail, West- ern Riding, Showmanship and Horsemanship. Along with this All Around Hi Point Youth for Wisconsin in WRHA (Wisconsin Ranch Horse Association). Throughout the coming year, Haebig become a member of a number of horse clubs and showed at their events. She is a member of the American Quarter Horse Assoc- iation, The Broken Cinch Saddle Club, The Wiscon- sin Paint Horse Club, The American Paint Horse Association, Wisconsin Ranch Horse Association and the American Ranch Horse Association. In 2010, Haebig quali- fied for the Wisconsin State Horse Expo with her finishes at the Fond du Lac County Fair. She rode both Tucker and Lilly at the fair and was awarded multi- ple first place finishes. At her first State showing, Haebig was awarded Top 10 finishes in Hunt Show- manship, Western Show- manship, Western Pleas- ure and Trail with Lilly. SMSA High School has to offer! Come Anytime! The Village and Town of Eden appointed Tim Engel as the new fire chief of the Eden Fire Department. The appointment was made during the joint annual meeting of the Eden Fire Department and the town and village boards on Monday, Oct. 17. Chief Engel has made the appointments of Denny Rahn, first assistant, and Kyle Salter, second assistant. Chief Engel is pictured above with his father, Roger, who was the Eden Fire Chief from 1985-1992. This is the first time the appointment of a father and son has occurred in the Eden Fire Department. Engel replaces retiring Fire Chief Ed Costello. -photo submitted Tonnette Walker, first lady of Wisconsin; Stephanie Klett, Wisconsin tourism secretary; and Jackie Scharfenberg, forest naturalist; lead a group as they start their walk on the nature trail that travels around Mauthe Lake. Walk With Walker was held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Mauthe Lake recreation area. This is a program started by the first lady to help get people interested in being healthy and get them out to see the beautiful areas that Wisconsin has to offer.
