Term 1 Week 11, 8 April 2020
Digital Newsletter
The school newsletter will be distributed in digital format only during these exceptional circumstances. It will be
sent to parents’ email addresses, added to Skoolbag and the School Website. We hope you enjoy viewing the
newsletter each fortnight during the school term.
FROM THE PRINCIPALS
We have experienced a term that has been like no other as we as a nation and community deal with the impact of
COVID-19. School has remained open but we are certainly doing things differently. Our focus has been on
maintaining the delivery of quality teaching and learning that meets the needs of our learners at school and at
home. Staff have worked very hard to ensure that the on-line mode of delivery of lessons is in line with our high
expectations of high quality learning and teaching. It has been a steep and rewarding learning curve as we explore
new technologies that deliver education in different ways. Staff continue to work hard to improve our modes of
delivery and upskill with the diverse technologies and applications that are available to us.
Parents are to be commended for supporting their children at home. We appreciate it has not been easy and it has
required a change in the way that we normally do things. We have had to think laterally and problem solve to
support our students learning. Juggling work at home as well as student learning has been demanding for many.
However there have been many positives. Families have come together in ways that would not have been possible
before COVID-19. Families have become the most important aspect of our lives again!
I have been both delighted and thrilled to see the range of learning that students have been presenting. Their
creativity and ingenuity, helped by mums and dads, has been outstanding.
It is important that as a school community that we continue to keep the communication between home and school
open. Staff view that it’s their core business to support families in any way that is practical to ensure that students
thrive and prosper during this difficult time. We need families to tell us what we can do to better with our service
delivery to support them at home. Mrs Arabin is preparing a survey for parents to complete that will assist us with
our planning and support.
I wish to acknowledge all our staff for their dedication, understanding and commitment to this term. Many have
had new roles and have started in a new school. Teamwork has enabled all of us to undertake our jobs in a most
professional and rewarding manner. Mrs Platt finishes her work with us this term. She will hopefully be with us at
times throughout the rest of the year. Her contribution to our team has been significant.
Thank you to the parents who have responded magnificently to the changing nature of our school term. Your
continued support will be needed again next term.
Our students have been remarkable. Resilient, flexible, delightful, confounding! We miss them! They have made
teaching and leading at Binalong Public School so rewarding.
I am looking forward to handing over the reins to Mrs Arabin who returns to lead the school in Term 2. Already Mrs
Arabin has been at the forefront of planning and organising for the term ahead. It will be challenging but together
we can do great things.

Message from our Principal
I’m looking forward to re-joining the team at Binalong and connecting again with children and families. The staff at Binalong PS have lead and developed teaching and learning for our students incredibly, parents have been amazing and the kids have been resilient, determined and enthusiastic throughout a challenging and uncertain few weeks. I’ve loved catching up with learning through Google Classrooms and have been thrilled to see children uploading photos, videos and engaging with their teachers and classmates. May you all have a safe and restful break.
Mrs Arabin
