PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGES School Photographs As men oned previously, school photographs will be held on Thursday, 29th October. Students are requested to be in full school summer uniform, including black shoes. You should have already received your envelopes for ordering from Cliff Dykes. If you have not received your envelope please check your child’s bag or contact the school. Art and Music We were fortunate enough yesterday to commence the new Crea ve Arts program with lessons given to both infants and primary in the a ernoon session. Unfortunately, due to a clash of dates, we will be unable to commence the music component of the program un l next week, but we look forward to guitar, piano and some brass lessons star ng for the students. Prac cum Student Luke Co er, who did his observa on prac cum with us last term, will be returning to complete a 3 week teaching prac cum star ng next week. Mr Co er will work in with the infants classes and predominantly be with the kindergarten class. ACT Junior Concert Band The ACT Concert band will perform tomorrow in the school hall from 2.15pm‐3pm. Please remember that all are welcome to a end this performance. Kindergarten Orienta on Kinder Orienta on begins next Tuesday, 27th October and runs for 5 consecu ve weeks. The new kinder students will be here from 9am un l 1pm on these days. We look forward to welcoming them to the school.
Due to the class arrangements this year (3 classes instead of 2) the new kindergarten will go into their own class on Tuesdays. All other classes will remain the same and can con nue with their own programs of work. SO, on Tuesdays for the next 5 weeks, Binalong Public School will have 4 classes opera ng on site! IT Update A new router was installed this week at the school, replacing the older. Slower and possibly faulty one. This should prevent any further repeats of the loss of networking a er power outages. Unfortunately, we are s ll no further advanced with the phone system although the workaround in place lets us be contacted and make calls. A technician will assess the phone system this week and let us know what has occurred and how we may be able to proceed. Building Works and Maintenance A quote has been obtained to provide an awning to the new hall building over the double doors. This is to prevent water from storms that approach from the direc on of the township entering the hall. Addi onally, work to rec fy the primary room air condi oning leak has been quoted. This is a long standing problem that has, in the past, caused the room to flood repeatedly. With my best regards

BULLETIN
SPORTS NEWS Boorowa Carnival All students should be very proud of the behaviour, sportsmanship and their willingness to 'have a go’ at Boorowa Touch/Netball Carnival. Without any reserves the students put in 100% effort in each game and persisted, learning new skills and working as a team. Well done to all.
Boorowa Carnival Intensive Swimming and Swimming for sport Intensive swimming will begin in week 6 on 9th November 2015. A er the conclusion of intensive swimming we will be swimming for sport on Friday a ernoons from 2‐3pm. INFANTS NEWS Paddock to Plate Day at Murrumburrah High School On 4th November 2015, all students have been invited to par cipate in “Paddock to Plate” Agricultural Showcase at Murrumburrah High School. A note is a ached with all the details. Veggie Patch News It is exci ng to see our veggies grow. Our tomatoes are ready to be staked, we are already picking broad beans and our capsicums are looking fantas c. We have also learnt about some of the enemies of the veggie patch. Unfortunately snails and slugs love cucumbers and zucchinis. We will have to replace them, along with finding a way to eradicate
these nasty pests. Also we have some minor issues with rabbits, but some mesh fixed that. It is great to see the students eager to learn and take responsibility for the garden. They are really enjoying it. Over the summer holidays we will have to work out an arrangement to look a er our veggies and to harvest the vegetables. If you are able to help out please let me know and we can work something out. Miss O’Connor Kinder Orienta on Kinder Orienta on starts next Tuesday at 9.00 a.m. to 1 p.m. We are looking forward to 2016 Kinders joining us for the next 5 weeks. Please bring a packed fruit break, water bo le, hat, recess and wear enclosed shoes. Mrs Smith

This week they worked out a plan for the next few weeks, they decided on and designed their own unique character, their set and began wri ng a story about their characters ! Next week they will begin to design and decorate their own individual Puppet Theatres.
Al worked with the Primary kids to create wire sculptures of trees. Next week they will explore this further through experimenta on with plaster. The kids are all very excited to get back into their playing and I' m sure will spend lots of the week ahead prac cing!
