What is BITSA?

BITSA was established in 1989 as the BIT Student Association to provide a support

network for all Business Information Technology (BIT) Co-op students, both during

and after their time at university. Since then, membership has expanded to include

Information Systems Management (ISM) Co-op students. The BIT and ISM programs

were renamed this year to the Business Information Systems (BIS) and the Commerce

Information Systems (CIS) programs, and the constitution was also amended in 2012

to invite all students studying an Information Systems degree or major to attend

BITSA events. BITSA, now known as the IS Student Association, is an Arc-affiliated

club with current membership at over 200 students and over 150 active alumni.

At BITSA, we believe that a university experience that is balanced between hard work

and a fun social life is important in maintaining our students’ wellbeing. For this

reason, the BITSA Executive team organises and runs several events throughout the

year. We ensure that our events challenge our members’ intellect and creativity, help

individuals build friendships and networks, and importantly, helps our local

community.

Why sponsor BITSA?

BITSA is a non-profit student organisation and we are looking for assistance to fund

some of our activities. All money raised by the club will be used for club-related

purposes. BITSA maintains BITSAWeb (www.bitsa.org.au) and has recently updated

the BITSAWiki as a platform for both current students and alumni to socialise and

keep in touch. We also produce the BITSAMag, a bi-annual publication distributed to

students and sponsors of the BIS and CIS programs.

Our biggest event of the year, our BITSA Trivia Night is attended by current students,

alumni, and many other guests from our industry sponsor companies. Last year, this

event was sold out to capacity at over 120 people.

Sponsorship of BITSA would enable you to raise your company’s profile amongst top

graduates and to generate increased goodwill for your company among a very

talented group of students and a wide alumni network.
