Announcements…
Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Syracuse
YOUR PRAYERS ARE REQUESTED AT all Masses celebrated this week for an end to persecution, our church, for vocation to the religious life, for an end to abortion, for the needs of the Parish, for our sick at home, in nursing homes and in the hospitals, for American Armed forces and Veterans, for world peace, and an end to terrorism.
A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE…Why is it so hard to forgive, yet so easy to get even? Listen to John the Baptist in today’s gospel and repent of the anger and ugly feelings, which block your ability to forgive. This Christmas give a gift, which makes a difference. Give forgiveness.
IS GOD CALLING YOU? In today’s Gospel, we see St. John the Baptist as the one who comes to “prepare the way of the Lord.” Could it be possible that Christ may be calling you to help prepare His way as John the Baptist did? If you are interested in a religious vocation, go to www.vocations-syracuse.org or call 315-
470-1468.

NEWS FROM THE FOOD PANTRY
THANK YOU!
We hope that you have seen, through the 3 prior installments, that we all share in the good work that is accomplished through the Food Pantry. All your donations and prayers help our friends in need in wonderful and different ways. And we are always appreciative of our many, many volunteers. It takes a lot of good folks, in a lot of different roles, to make this happen.
We are very grateful to our predecessors, who established, nourished and grew the Food Pantry before we volunteered. Their job was, in many cases, much harder than ours. They had many hard lessons to learn through experience, and they kindly handed down their new-found knowledge to us.
Almost every week we are a recipient of a donation or a kindness that makes us smile. You are all so thoughtful. It is genuinely humbling to know that you have provided us with the platform to help our friends in need. And please know that it is genuinely enriching to do the work we do. We receive as much from our friends in need as they receive from us.
Each week before we open the doors, we gather in a circle and place our hands one upon the other, and together recite an “Our Father,” or “Hail Mary,” for the intention of the day. Quite frequently, our specific intention is for you, our donors.
THANK YOU and may God Bless you in ALL ways, ALWAYS!
The Food Pantry Volunteers.
Parents, grandparents, and guardians
please remember to escort your child

Rosary across U.S.
Throughout the United States on December 12, 2017, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, there will be mass rosary service across our country. The intention of the prayers will be “to ask Our Lady to save the USA from the danger of Islamic jihad, from the denial of the Christian faith and for an end of abortion.”
This particular devotion was inspired by the Rosary on the Borders of Poland and is spreading throughout the world. Our Blessed Mother repeatedly have asked us to pray the Rosary for peace, end of wars and embrace faith and life.
We invite all who wish to pray with us to our Basilica on
Tuesday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m.

BLESSING OF THE BAMBINELLI…. During his papacy Pope John Paul II instituted the celebration of “Bambinelli Sunday” on the Third Sunday of Advent. Children bring their Christ-child figures from their home nativity set to St. Peter’s Square where the Pope blesses both the people and the figurines during the Angelus. On Sunday, December 17th we will unite our hearts with the Holy Father for the blessing of our own Bambinelli. Bring your own Christ Child figurine to the 9:00am Mass, and the children will present them for a blessing by Father Baranski at the conclusion of Mass. Grandparents or parents are encouraged to accompany the grandchildren to the altar to make a special family memory. A suggestion is, when you take your “Bambinelli” home, place it in a gift box and save it for Christmas. Let this be the first gift your family opens on Christmas, when together you place the Christ-child figure in your crèche, and have a home blessing of your Nativity set.
CHRISTMAS CAROLING… THE GIFT OF GIVING…
Once again this year, we will sing in a large gathering room where our resident parishioners and other residents will join in to listen to some old Christmas favorites, hopefully join in, and enjoy your children and youth, and everyone else, who come to share their Christmas spirit with them. It will be about an hour of your time, and could be the best present you give yourself and others this year.
Families and parishioners are invited to meet in the main lobby of St. Camillus at 10:00am on Saturday, December 16th. We will present the gifts from the parish Giving Tree to our parishioners. Confirmation candidates, Girls Choir, and the “Fearless” Girls Group are encouraged and welcome to come. So plan on joining us, one and all. You’ll be glad you did.
Here at the Basilica and throughout the
Diocese on Monday, December 18th, 2017
from 4pm-7pm.
By participating in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, whether our first time in days, weeks, months or years, we are experiencing God’s individual and unwavering love for us,
and one of the true graces made available to us by our Catholic faith. God loves us just the way we are, but he loves us too
much to leave us that way. When we return to the Church for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Jesus rejoices like the father in the Parable of the Prodigal Son. It is never "too late" to return to Jesus and ask for forgiveness. Imagine how joyful you will feel upon confessing your sins, big or small!
