Basic Off Page SEO Tips & Examples Of Optimization Techniques
Off Page SEO TipsWhen it comes to the off page SEO, you need to know the basics of the optimization techniques. Off
page optimization is not only about getting as many backlinks as possible. Check out these basic
SEO tips and examples of the optimization techniques to get maximum from your efforts.
Off Page SEO Tip #1: Beware Of Nofollow LinksSome time ago, Google introduced nofollow tag. If this tag is used, search engines ignore the link
(they do not follow it). In other words, such links are still good to get direct traffic, but they will not help
you in terms of SEO.
Example: A link without nofollow tag (sometimes called dofollow link, even though nothing like
dofollow tag exists) looks like this: <a href="http://www.your-domain.com">Anchor text</a>. Such link
will help your website to rank better in Google. However, nofollow link like this: <a
href="http://www.your-domain.com" ref="nofollow">Anchor text</a> will not help.
There are two ways how to find out if the link is nofollow:
Click the right mouse button, choose "display source code" from the menu and search for nofollow
tags using CTRL + F.
Use some firefox extension like Search Status which can highlight nofollow links without the need to
check out the source code.
Off Page SEO Tip #2: Content Of The Referring PageIf the content of referring page is related to your website content, the value of such backlink is higher.
Many SEO experts say it is better to get a link from related website with decent pagerank than link
from unrelated website with high pagerank.
Examples:
You are trying to get some incoming links by commenting weblogs. Comment rather less known
weblogs which are thematically similar to your website instead of commenting high PR unrelated
weblogs.
You are trying another off page optimization technique -- posting articles to the article directories
with a backlink to your website in the "about the author" box. In this case, the subject of your article
should have something in common with your website content. Off Page SEO Tip #3: Do Not Buy Nor Sell BacklinksWhy do not buy backlinks? Google considers link selling as manipulation with the search results and

penalizes both, the link sellers and buyers.
Example: There are several services offering paid reviews which are rather used as off page
optimization technique. How it works? Blogger writes a review about the advertiser's product and
includes a backlink. When done, the advertiser pays for the review (and the link). It may look like a
good job, however, if you are caught, your website may be penalized.
