Join the Rabbis for a casual introduction to Judaism class. We discuss everything from lifecycle to theology to holidays, and everything in between! All are welcome to come and learn!

CLASSES STARTING AGAIN IN AUGUST:
THE WAY INTO TORAH
The class, led by Rabbi Alper, is for anyone interested in learning the Torah for the first time. Taught at an introductory level, students will encounter some of the most famous laws and legends of Jewish history and culture. Each class will be based upon “classical” rabbinic interpretations of the Torah. Bring your own lunch.

FEATURED EVENT IN AUGUSTTEMPLE ISRAEL’S CHAVURAT SHIRA CHOIR PERFORMING AT THE MUNY
On Tuesday, August 2 at 7:00 pm, Temple Israel’s very own Chavurat Shira Choir will be performing at the Muny, preceding the evening performance of Fiddler on the Roof. The choir will sing a mix of liturgical music and show tune favorites.
The performance will be held at the Lichtenstein Plaza at the top of the venue behind the last row of seats. No tickets are needed. If you plan to stay for the 8:15 pm show of Fiddler on the Roof, visit the Muny’s website at www.Muny.org to purchase tickets.

ANNUAL HIGH HOLY DAYS PERSONAL CARE ITEM DRIVE AT TEMPLE ISRAELSeptember - October, 2015
For the past 11 years, Temple Israel has been collecting and donating personal care items to the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry throughout the High Holy Day season. Join us again this year for this mitzvah opportunity to provide more than 6.500 people in our community with the necessary personal care items for themselves and their families.
DONATE: Needed items include toilet paper, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, disposable razors, shaving cream, diapers, and feminine protection products. We’ll have volunteers and blue collection barrels available at all High Holy Days services. Items can also be brought to the Temple at any time and placed in the collection barrels by the May Chapel building entrance from September through October. All donations placed in our Tzedakah box will also be donated toward this effort.
VOLUNTEER: We are in need of volunteers for the collection tables at High Holy Days services and at our Schnucks collection drive. If you are able to volunteer for an hour or two at any or all of the following events, please contact Nancy Solomon at [email protected] or 314-991-4278.
Rosh Hashanah evening or morning services Sunday, October 2 or Monday, October 3
Yom Kippur evening or morning services Tuesday, October 11 or Wednesday, October 12 Volunteers also needed to help sort after morning services on Wednesday, October 12
