Laboratory Chamber Furnaces (750oC-1200oC)
A robust range of laboratory furnaces, providing an excellent
level of versatility without compromising quality, safety or
reliability.
All units in this range have a continuous operating
temperature of 1200°C. Heating is provided by two side-wall free
radiating elements manufactured from original Swedish Kanthal
high temperature resistance wire spirals supported on
recrystallized Alumina tubes for optimum uniformity. Free
radiating elements provide option of fast heating the furnace up
to 20oC/min.
The special swivel type door opens outwards keeping the hot face insulation away from the
operator. All units use vacuum formed fiber board low thermal mass insulation for fast, accurate
heating and cooling. The use of double skin construction allows natural air convection to maintain
a cool outer case. An exhaust chimney is fitted on optional basis.
Furnace entrance door is made from hard wearing Alumina bricks to handle wear over long life.
Modular design with easy access to elements & controls simplifies maintenance & servicing.
Optional Extras
Metal retorts – A variety of metal retorts are available for use with this range of furnaces. This type of retort is generally used to cater for the following process conditions:
a. To maintain controlled atmospheres within the heated chamber;
b. To protect the heating elements and insulation from chemical attack by aggressive
volatiles given off by fluxes, acids, etc.
Four sided heating – This option upgrades the standard two sided heating to four sided heatingand is recommended in the following circumstances:
a. For use with metal retorts and ceramic liners;
b. To improve chamber temperature uniformity to meet specific process requirements;
c. To up rate the furnace power to cope with large loads.

R-Type thermocouple – This option upgrades the standard K Type (mineral insulated insideInconel sheath) thermocouple to R-Type thermocouple and is recommended if furnace is going tobe used continuously at 1200oC.
Over-temperature protection – This option is recommended to protect valuable contents & forunattended operation.
Data logging and remote controlled controllers – A range of sophisticated digital controllers,multi-segment programmers and data loggers is available. These can be fitted with RS232 andRS485.
Economy Chamber Furnace (750oC – 1150
oC)
An economical, rapid heating and lightweight furnace
Incorporating a single body furnace design with low thermal
mass insulation for general laboratory purpose.
The control panel is separate from furnace body. With hinge
type door, hard wear resistant Alumina brick door entrance and
original Swedish Kanthal heating elements these furnacesprovide excellent combination of technology, economy and
performance. All units come equipped with standard SSR and
profile controller.
If your process generates significant amounts of corrosive fumes, please discuss your applicationwith our sales department.

tory and light production applications.
Furnace 1200oC – 1400
oC
These models have continuous operating temperatures of 1350°
C and 1400°C. These furnaces are made from low thermal mass
ceramic fibre insulation and silicon carbide elements, which
radiate heat directly onto the workpiece, provide rapid heating
and cooling and low running costs. Recrystallized / Reaction
bonded SiC elements at optimum surface loading arranged in
series parallel arrangement ensure long working life and are
able to withstand the stresses of intermittent operation.
The swivel type door opens outwards keeping the hot face insulation away from the operator. Thefurnace door entrance is made from wear resistant Alumina bricks to enhance performance. Theuse of double skin construction allows natural air convection to maintain a cool outer case formaximum operating safety and comfort at highest temperatures of operation.
These units are fired using specially developed power supplies to take care of varying resistance
of SiC. elements with time and temperature of operation. Over temperature protection is
available as optional.

Laboratory Tube Furnace (750oC – 1200
oC)
For laboratory processes requiring the use of a tube furnace, Ants offers a variety of tubediameters and lengths to meet most heat processing requirements.
Furnace design - The design of furnace body makesuse of double skin construction that allows natural airconvection to maintain a cool outer case for maximumoperating safety and comfort. All models are suppliedhorizontally as standard, but vertical options are alsoavailable.
Furnace work tube - This range of furnaces has amaximum operating temperature of 1200°C. Foroperation at 1200°C work tube of 80% Alumina isrecommended. For operation at 1100oC or less either80% Alumina or fused quartz work tube is recom-mended.
Furnace heating technology - Heating is providedby all surrounding free radiating elements manufac-tured from original Swedish Kanthal high temperatureresistance wire spirals supported on recrystallized Alumina tubes for optimum uniformity. Free radiating
elements provide option of fast heating the furnaceupto 20oC/min.
In horizontal tube furnaces heating elements are not wound on work tube. This configurationallows easy replacement of work tube and higher continuous working temperature. Since theheated sample does not face the radiation directly from heating element, sample temperature isupto 20oC less than thermocouple temperature which shows temperature outside work tube.
In vertical tube furnace heating is provided by a resistance wire element wound on to the ceramicwork tube which is an integral part of the furnace.
Furnace insulation - Low thermal mass insulation is used throughout for rapid response ratesand maximum thermal efficiency and stability. A rugged metal sheathed thermocouple isprotected from accidental damage and allows full use of the work tube bore. In furnace were worktube is integral part of furnace, a separate work tube is required when furnace is used with anatmosphere or is likely to be contaminated by spillage. Tubes Insulating end plugs to minimiseheat loss and thermal gradients is offered as standard.
Over-temperature protection – This option is recommended to protect valuable contents & forunattended operation.
Data logging and remote controlled controllers – A range of sophisticated digital controllers,multi-segment programmers and data loggers is available. These can be fitted with RS232,RS485.

Split Tube Furnace (1100oC – 1600
oC)
This enables easy access where work tubes are to be changed between jobs or where thefurnace is to be wrapped around the sample for example in tensile test rigs.
Horizontal and Vertical split tube furnace.
This tube furnaces use free radiating wire elements embedded within the insulation of the furnacebody. Wire elements in high quality vacuum formed insulation ensure fast heat up, excellenttemperature uniformity and short cool down times. The benefit of this design is its flexibility; withthe use of tube adapters (refractory blocks) the same furnace can be used with a variety of tubediameters.
These furnaces comprise a furnace body which is hinged and split into two halves along its
length. This makes exchange of work tubes easier and also enables the furnace to be used withreactors or work tubes where end flanges would make insertion into a non-split furnace difficult.
This range of tube furnaces does not include an integral work tube and one must be selected asan additional item. The work tube length is dependent on the application eg. for use with modifiedatmosphere or vacuum. The use of a separate work tube has the advantage of protecting theheating elements from damage or contamination.
Options (specify these at time of order)
Insulation plugs, gas tight end seals and vacuum connections available
Wide choice of tube diameters and materials is available: eg quartz, ceramic, metal.
Over-temperature control; recommended for unattended operation and to protect a valuable
load
Available with ‘L’ stand for vertical and horizontal use
A range of sophisticated digital controllers, multi-segment programmers and data loggers is
available. These can be fitted with RS232 and RS485.

ANTS (Our guide)
Ants have been called one of the most successful organisms on Earth. Their numbers
boggle the mind. In terms of biomass (the amount of living matter), ants make up at
least 15 percent of the terrestrial animal biomass.
Their complex, cooperative societies enable them to survive and thrive in conditions
that would challenge any organism. These societies sometimes stretching to miles
have division of labour, communication between individuals, and an ability to solve
complex problems.
